Voting committee comprised of gaming writers, CEOs, VPs, directors, and producers.
Massively multiplayer online (MMO) games now have a shrine to be placed on when they score it big and become the gaming community's favorite. The place to go is the MMO Hall of Fame.
This year, the MMO Hall of Fame Voting Committee, comprising of gaming writers, CEOs, VPs, directors, and producers, put in their votes for games they believe are the epitome of the MMO standard. For this year, their inaugural 2012 MMO Hall of Fame Class includes:
- Ultima Online* (100% of the votes)
- World of Warcraft (80% of the votes)
- EverQuest (70% of the votes)
- Lineage (60% of the votes)
- EVE Online (60% of the votes)
As a note, Ultima Online received an unanimous vote of 100%. Games must receive at least a 60% of the votes to be inducted.
"The voting committee did a superb job of selecting the best of the best in MMOs,” said Doug Kale, museum director of the online MMO Hall of Fame. The committee included both current and past top level employees of games such as EverQuest, Habbo, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Runes of Magic, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Wizard101, and World of Warcraft. Kale said, “It was a well-rounded group that recognized the games that have set standards. Congratulations to the winners!”
