I bought it but don't have the will to actually play it. To many games are in line before it...and some sneak up pushing Lights Out farther back.

Yes, 800x600 at 60Hz. My eyes, my eyes
I have to respectfully disagree with the first poster: it wasn't at all scary to me. It had an interesting atmosphere since Boakes pays good attention to detail, but not a frightening one by any means. Ambient sounds seemed mediocre, too, which is part of the reason it wasn't scary. For scary, I'd recommend turning to a game like System Shock 2 or The Suffering or one of the Silent Hill games. (The Silent Hill games are not for the faint of heart or stomach, mind you!) See also http://www.gamespy.com/articles/561/561382p1.html?fromint=1 for scary game suggestions.
Fwiw, many of the puzzles in Lights Out are similar in nature, though I still had fun with them. I could imagine some people being unimpressed with the repetition, though.

| Deleted User | There is a demo of Silent Hill 4 floating around for PC. It's a big step backwards from number 3 in terms of the technical aspect, that's for sure. An atrocious port.

df1 was definately scarier than 2, but 2 was pretty creepy too! i posted a few things about it a couple of weeks ago
if you want scary games (but action/adventures) definately try the first 3 silent hills, like recommended above, and by all means fatal frame 2!!! sh4 was a let down
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Status : Online | I LOVED the mood and atmosphere in the DF games. At one point in "Lights Out" I was in a dark, quiet room, thinking the place was deserted, and suddenly heard extremely realistic sounding footsteps approaching me. The way it shattered the silence really freaked me out.

Status : Offline | Lights Out is a game I am going to order soon. I am putting a new computer together for games and I have been holding back on buying games for the moment. I enjoyed Farkfall 1 and I think this one will have some of the things I missed with Darkfall. As far as scary games go I think it has a lot to do with how many horror movies a person has seen as the scare tacticks they use in movies are simular. After a while a person can anticipate what's going to hapen and it's not as scary anymore. Everyone will have different things that they call scary. My favorite games are sifi and mystery so this one looks good to me.

I'll apologise for the footsteps, if you apologise for the weird insect hand moment. It was disturbing, and rather odd. Good fun though! Will there be a further 'arrangement'?

"wierd insect hand movement" LOL [smiley=rofl.gif] Talk about arachnophobia!!
No other "arrangements" planned at the moment, but other ideas are flowing.
What about more games like DF?
