Status : Online | heh. I walked out on Scary Movie also. I went to see it with my dad. lol. What a mistake. We snuck into X-men instead. A much better choice.
Anyway, I'd say Scary Movie is up there with the worst movie. Recently I netflixed Pi: Faith in Chaos. I'm really surprised I made it all the way through. I didn't understand half of it and was grossed out by the other half. Never, ever watch that movie!

Perhaps the drabbest, most pointless and boring film I have ever seen all the way through is Incoming Freshmen a limited 1979 U.S. theatrical release, written and directed (more or less) by Eric Lewald.
Here is a quick link to its listing on the Internet Movie Data Base.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079338/
I actually worked with one of the lead actors several years later after he had become a pretty damned good copywriter for an ad agency here in Houston. That is also the ONLY reason I ever heard of, let alone watched the movie. Never did have the heart to tell him just how truly dreadful it was.
Cheers, Terry

Status : Online | I saw this one movie when I was in high school. Something about a nuclear war happening, and people had to escape this building. They had a helicopter but no pilot and had to find one. :-/ I forget the name, but the movie was truly truly bad. Miracle Mile or something like that.
What's funny is that not so long back I was paging through a gaming mag and they spotlighted this movie as being a hot release for rental DVD. Said how underrated it was.  on't know about that!!

Strange Bedfellows. It's an Aussie movie starring Paul Hogan and a host of well known Aussie actors.
Unfortunately it deserves to be burnt and the writers/directors all strung up.
Do not watch this movie. It has no redeeming qualities.

I've seen that one too Lakerz and yes it was called Miracle Mile. It starred Anthony Edwards, Mare Winningham and actually had the beginnings of a very good plot. But soon after the film gets rolling, it just gets totally bogged down. By the end you wonder why you just wasted two hours of your life.
Here's the brief plot synopsis from IMDB:
A young man hears a chance phone call telling him that a nuclear war has started and missiles will hit his city in 70 minutes.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097889/
Too bad it turned out to be such a stinker but it really wasn't nearly as bad as some movies I've seen. At least it had a couple of notable stars and the beginning of a good, tense plot. Technically it wasn't that all that bad either (they actually used a "professional" DP, crew and editor).
Cheers, Terry

| Deleted User | There's a good few bad films from this year, including Van Helsing and Catwoman, which are supposed to be the worst ever created. There was the most dissapointing films last year in the Matrix sequels, for me personally at least...
...but the WORST films I've seen were two I can't find the names of. One was an awful B-Movie predator rip off with a Gray alien in it, the other was some horror about big insects that was truly crud-tastic. Most really bad films I've blanked out, although I'm consistantly entertained by movies such as Plan 9 from Outer Space or Battlefield Earth.

I didn't think Van Helsing was as bad as you guys make it out to be. Overall, I'm with Caroline - I loved the sets and enjoyed the movie. There were definitely some really bad moments in it, but the point of it was to be a bit of an homage and somewhat of a spoof of the classic horror movies of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. I think it succeeded in what it intended.

Actually, it is understandable why someone wouldn't like it
I mean, the pacing is very slow, we all know that. And a lot of time is spent with model shots. The storyline is also very segmented, and not always strung together very clearly. The idea of a machine losing control and attacking people isn't very origional, either.
I mean, I think it's a great movie anyway. But even so, you can still see where someone wouldn't care for it.

| Deleted User | Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed Miracle Mile, and I say that as someone who pretty much hates Mare Winningham. I found it both quirky and exciting enough to really engage me. I used to frequently recommend it when I was managing a video store.
And about half the people I rented it to brought it back bitching that it was crap. But then, the other half enjoyed it.
I've managed to miss most of the real stinkers of the last many years, but I remember that the only movie I ever walked out on was Sheena.  1984, Tanya Roberts)
I also recently rented the original Carnival of Souls having heard what a cult classic it was for years... and gave up on it after an hour.
And though I know it will get me burned at the stake, I abhored Eraserhead. Virtually unwatchable.

But the one I hate the most is "Tomb Raider" because I loved the game and the movie could have been so much better. And the ending of that movie must be the worst one ever.
Feel free to ignore this post.

Stanley Kubrick was a bonafide genious and all of his films are great!
Or that's just me...
Not everyone can stand a "slow" movie, and I can sympathize with that. Barry Lyndon is another extremely slow Kubrick movie, but it's just so stunningly beautiful that I'm glued to the screen whenever I see it. And some people absolutely HATES A Clockwork Orange. I can understand why, although I think it's genious myself.
But returning to the question of bad movies in general, it's hard to say because there are bad movies that are extremely bad, but in a funny, lovable way. Like Hercules in New York (starring Schwarzenegger) or Dark Star. They are great entertainment simply because they are bad.
But there are also movies that simply stinks. Blues Brothers 2000 was really un-funny, which was a great disappointment because of the original. There are many films like that.
But I must also mention Van Helsing. Seriously, that movie stank so bad that I don't know where to begin. It could have been so bad that it became funny, but it went beyond that into a whole new level of un-funniness. Almost bad enough to make it turn around again and become funny on a whole new plane, but I never reached that mental state before the movie ended.

Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. Especially Revolutions. What a spectacular waste of money those movies were! I was pretty much in a state of rage when I left the theatre after having watched Revolutions. I hope those brothers who made that movie never gets to make another movie ever again!

from the more recent movies, and the more hyped ones, one that turned out being probably one of the worst movies i ever seen is love actually... HORRIBLE... and mind you, i like romantic comedies - big meg ryan & hugh grant fan... yeah yeah, love actually-substance-meanings-warm & fuzzy etc etc... no... it was plain awful and more boring than watching an amputated turtle trying to walk on glue in slow motion... among the most wasted 2+ hours of my life :-/
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Another really bad film I somehow wound up watching with some friends is Orgy of the Dead. It wasn't even a horror movie like we thought, but just a film of unnattractive women who can't dance doing a sort of striptease in a graveyard. I truly wished for death, even a painful one on that day.
