For all you Myst/Riven lovers, Quandary's Steve Ramsey has an excellent review of RHEM at http://www.quandaryland.com/2002/Rhem.htm.

RHEM is another high-quality fan-developed game.  With games like RHEM. Darkfall and the hilarious Aftershocked! being produced by young developers, it looks like the adventure genre has a bright future.

It's pretty much the same as IF, in this regard.

You see, people worry about Adventure games as a genre dying out. But really, that will never happen. As long as fans make their own titles, the creativity will always exist. That's why I have never, nor will I ever, worry about the future of this genre.

Deleted UserI saw screenshots of it and it looks incredibly close to Riven. Either great minds think alike or this is complete plagiarism

Is it a downloadable game or do you have to order in for it?

I just the review.  On that same page is a box and says can only buy at the RHEM website.  When I clicked the box to go over to the RHEM  site, it wouldn't load.  Tried typing in the address myself and still no go. :-/

Yup, I can't get into the site either. Hope it's just a temporary website problem. Can't be helping business!

Solid, challenging, logical game.

Will it be in English?  Yup.

Not that that will matter much once you get into it.  This is a game of technological logic and, as such, has little use or need for spoken or written language.  What written language you do find will be English if that is the language you ask the game to install.

P.S.  Bring lots of paper and writing utensils.  You'll be taking lots of notes.

I think there is an option to choose either English or German when you first run the game. I know I saw that option come up, but since I did the manual install, it couldn't have been during the installation.

It isn't like Riven. But if you didn't like Riven, you won't like Rhem either.

Except for a brief cut scene, there is no life in Rhem other than yourself - no trees, no grass, no birds, no fish, etc. Rhem is like a huge hydroelectric facility spread out over the landscape.

Playing Rhem takes a bit of getting used to because some of the control panels you find don't really do anything besides give you hints. But some won't give you hints until you have other information - for example the button panels that don't seem to do anything until you know what numbers to put into them.

It's a very intricate game and very logically thought out - but not for everyone. For people who like clicking on things to see how they work, it could be great fun though.

The full install works for the Mac version, but not for the Windows version. However I was able to play it from the hard drive using Daemon-tools. Other CD emulation programs may work as well (though someone did post that they had a problem with Virtual CD emulator). Also, the game can read from any CD, so if you have more than one CD drive, you can put CD's in both and cut down on swapping.

I ordered Rhem based on the info above. I'll take anything that's even remotely like Riven even without the flora & fawna.
