Status : Online | Fable is the primary reason I bought my Xbox six months ago. I've had it preordered for some time and just got word that Amazon has finally shipped it. (Um, Amazon's not the best place to pre-order games, m'kay?)
The only thing I'm a little concerned about is I've read that the levels kind of restrict your movement; you can't just walk any durn where you please like you can in the Gothics. We'll see how bad it really is, though.
By the way, my wife and I are close to wrapping up Galleon on the Xbox. It's nowhere near as bad (or as short) as people are saying, although it can be tricky. Also, yes, the character models are kinda old school but the levels are beautiful and the game as a whole has a pretty distinctive and attractive look. Also the story, characters, and acting are great. Plus, it's got TONS of hidden little goodies for those willing to explore every inch of the terrain.

Status : Online | If you have been reading about Project Ego from years and planting a virtual seed and having it grow into a virtual tree gives you warm fuzzies... um, prepare to be disappointed. True to form, PM delivered about 30% of what he promised, and what is there is pretty good but not great. I would guess I am about 80 percent of the way through my first playthrough, playing good, with all the butterflies and halos that entails. It is basically a hack 'n' slash game a la the recent EA Lord of the Rings games, with very slight Sims elements in towns. All people in town react to you with a couple of generic phrases, it takes about 10 seconds to make them fall in love with you, and otherwise they stumble around blindly for no apparent reason. So don't expect much depth interaction wise. There are no puzzles per say. Even when you need a key to unlock a door, or a costume to sneak in somewhere, it is handed to you along the way. This game is extremely linear. You can go to point A to point F, but until you just give up and go to point B like the game wants you to, there will be nothing to do anywhere else anyway. As for the aging, it is pretty pointless. No one else ages (Except for your immediate rival, who makes the same couple of growth spurts as you early in the game), and time does not pass for anyone else in the game. So basically it is like you have some sort of wasting disease or something. Besides, you spend ninety percent of you time looking at the back of your head, fully clothed, so things like scars and wrinkles are sort of pointless. The game is easy. Very easy. I like short and sweet these days, so it suits me just fine. (I am old enough to have other commitments in life.) But if you like to flexx0rs yu0r 1337 5ki11z00rs, you may want to give Ninja Gaiden another spin instead. I have noticed no tanning or lack thereof, and everthing else (muscles, beards, male pattern baldness, etc.) you purchase a la carte from various stores. So it is a lot more contrived and arbitrary than M$ would have you believe. For all that, if you have suitable low expectations, it is a pretty fun game that I personally am enjoying. Right now, it is still fun enough that I plan to play through again evil. Then I will put it on the shelf, and take it in to trade next time I want to buy a game. This is not the second coming. Fable will not reinvent the videogame. It will not become your new reason for living. But it is pretty good. Since I am not a big FPS fan, Fable is basically the biggest game of the year for Xbox for me, and I am reasonably pleased with it. I would recommend it as long as you realize it is not all it is hyped up to be. It was nowhere near the dissappointment that BS3 was for me, so take that as you will.
