I'm not sure if you noticed that I added answers to 11) and 12) above. Maybe I should stop editing the posts like that, but I don't want to look like I'm spamming Please stop that...and we all know you're spamming anyway. No use hiding it. 11) No. 12) I'll accept that. He was in a movie.
In 16), were they both starting from the same spot? Sort of, yes.

Does "sort of" mean "sort of yes" or "sort of no"? Think carefully before you answer...

Because even if he left the time zone, he comes back into his own and it's only 5 min. later in that zone since he left. You know what I mean. I hope.

Anyway it was when winter time was changing to summer time (I think).
Both? Was there a handicap involved?

But yes... And: When the man arrives home, the clock shows a time only five minutes later than when he left.
Was there a handicap involved? Not..intentionally...you have to envision the situation.

Was one running uphill and one downhill or something? Nope. It was the same field.

Wanted to answer #13 earlier, but the forum went down. Here it goes: The men are fire fighters just about to rescue some people who are running out of oxygen. That's why the men give them their masks. I guess you should always have some leftover masks, but well...
#16 I'd say the bet was not about running at all. They compete in a swimming race and the slower runner is just the better swimmer. How about that? Ok..."running" in a race...does that mean you have to run for real, I guess not. I hope.

Ok..."running" in a race...does that mean you have to run for real, I guess not. I hope. Well, I thought about the slower guy running on a horse for instance, but I don't think that's it.
On #1, I forgot to add something... how about 17%?
About #3... assuming the strings are truly identical:
- put both of them next to each other - light one of them on both ends; it will take exactly 30 minutes for it to burn down completely - light the other at the same place where the first finished burning and on one end (doesn't matter which); that "half" will burn in 15 minutes
I forgot my sig.

You have to explain why it wouldn't work. You only light the other string in the 'middle' and in one end? Hmm....I guess it should work, it's just slightly different in the 'official' explanation....

Hmm....I guess it should work, it's just slightly different in the 'official' explanation.... It's up to you to decide if it's an acceptable solution or not

I think I read about yet another variation which states that you cut the rope at the point the other one stopped to burn. I think, lighting the second rope without cutting it could end up with the flame going in the wrong direction...that's why you are supposed to light both ends.
Regarding #13: You must admit it sounds perfectly logical. I really wonder about that, now.
And the manatee is slightly less complicated, but you got the style-marks better this time.

Manatee insanity? That's the one!
This means, there's just one left to hunt down from my batch. It's this one: 3) What is the difference between a teacher and a train?
The clue to this was: Start with the train. Think of sounds.

How are you going to cut the rope with a lighter? You don't have a knife... and once it starts burning, it might be hard to stop it.

Eva, about your #16... when the slower runner agreed to the bet, did he already have a cunning plan? Was the loser drugged or otherwise disabled? Also the wording isn't 100% clear - did the faster runner really bet that he (ie. the fast one) will win the race?

1) This is an unusual paragraph. It has a trait not found in many paragraphs consisting of this many words. Can you find out what it is? It's not as hard as you might think. Just look and study. I know you can do it. Good luck! [If you've seen this before, please don't answer]
2) Of all the face cards in a standard deck of cards, only the jack of hearts, jack of spades and king of diamonds have one eye pictured. All other face cards have a view where both eyes of each character are pictured. How many eyes are pictured in a standard 52-card deck?
3) A certain android eats cake but not pie, drinks milk but not water, reads a book but not a magazine, sits on a sofa but not in a chair. Will it walk or run and why?
4) Following is a list of abbreviations: wt. oz. Mr. ft. St. wk. Lt. jr. ht. vs. Which one is different from the rest and why?
5) Three boxes of grapefruit are all incorrectly labeled. The labels read "white", "pink" and "pink and white". Visual identification can only be made by cutting the grapefruit and noting the pink or white color. By taking a single grapefruit from one of the boxes and cutting it open, determine how to switch labels to correctly identify the boxes.
