Now I'll just wait in that corner over there for all the 3D-haters to bash my head in

Status : Offline | TERRIBLE!!! advs should not be made that way... the only one i liked was Grim Fandango, but that was so great due to its originality and storyline... the engine was as crap as it can get... i didn't like GK3 up to the point i played (not much that is) but it was recommended to me by dimi and other ppl to give it a chance cause it gets better later on so i plan to play it again some time - but i'll still hate the engine
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Status : Online | I also liked it, it is the best 3d engine used so far imo. But it could be even better. I think moving the camera all the time became a bit cumbersome.
Maybe it would be even better if there was an option for the camera to move and change automatically according to where Gabe was walking.

I found the variable camera angle a bit distracting (basically meaning I'd cut off the character's noses when they were talking for a quick laugh), but it was a good theoretical concept and was employed well. Especially with the 'treasure hunting' storyline.

My problem was that I felt like an extra, invisible character in the gameworld, able to have my own experience seperate from the experience of the player character. This created a distance between me as the player, and the character I was supposed to be, which felt weird and uninvolving, IMO.
And I thought readying inventory items was pretty cumbersome, too.

Swat 3 is a great game BTW. Although it's about as far from the adventure genre as you can get.

Me, I'm kinda ambivalent about this. GK3 is a great game, but I don't feel it's thanks to its being 3D.

Wish there was another one coming out or a Tex Murphy, really in the mood for them right now.

Status : Online | I HATED IT! I got stuck in rocks, houses and grass of all things. I already have a bad sense of direction. The engine in GK3 made this worse. It made me feel nauseous and blocked me from really getting into the game (which could be a reason why I don't like it very much after loving the first two).
In general, I prefer the 3D engines which are less disorientating!

It was not an interface that made you feel like Gabriel, but I have never cared too much for the characters in GK anyway. :-X I liked it for this as well as three other reasons: 1. It was an ideal interface for snooping around 2. It made the player feel like a director--- IMO an almost perfect degree of detachment was provided. 3. One doesn't have to wait for Gabriel to swagger across the sprawling square only to find that there is "no need to go down there".

Status : Online | It's the best engine for a 3D engine adventure game. The interface is very clever.I have said my opinion on and on about this issue. The GK3 interface is almost perfect for many reasons. Some said that they stuck in grass can't move arount. That's the reason the engine is so good though. You can go wherever you want without moving Gabe around.Just you are free to go anywhere. If you can't wait for Gabe to come just don't look at him and (point and CLICK and kaboom Gabe is there. If you are director kind of guy then you can go up,down, left, right and just click where you want the char. to be mover and just watch him.You don't like either? Then just move and push the Escape button. Simply the best interface for this kind of engine...
PS.Another great interface and for the best with GK3 for this kind of games (I don't mean that they share the same engine) is Pandora Directive.
