Status : Online | I've actually seen Brendan Fraser in the West End twice! Ooo...those were the best nights of my life. I couldn't believe that I was actually seeing him in the flesh (and in some scenes, it really was just that, apart from a towel around his midriff *faints*) and both times that I went to the theatre, he looked straight at me! The problem is, there was this obsessive fan (so I read) who actually tried to make a grab for him when he was coming out of the stage door and she was sat in the front row of the theatre for the first fortnight of the show, so he saw her every night...I just hope that hasn't discouraged him from doing stage work in the future. It was so cool seeing him... *blubs and wells up with sentimental tears*
@ Eva - to me, Brendan Fraser is the most perfect looking man in the world. He's fabulouso! I tell you, if you ever see another movie of his in the future, make sure it's 'Still Breathing' or 'Gods and Monsters'. 'Still Breathing' is a romance and 'Gods and Monsters' is a biopic of the last days of James Whale, the film director of 'Frankenstein' - it's my favourite film to date.

| Deleted User | RE; Brendan Fraser. He's a great actor, and Gods and Monsters is a really worthwhile film, where he gives a great sympathetic turn and actually stands up well to a terrific Ian McKellen. In fact, he's probably my top choice as a genuine successor to Harrison Ford - only with, dare I say it, more character.
My only problem with him is that he makes some really oddball choices, seeing as he's so talented. He sleptwalked through Looney Tunes; Back In Action (yet still was the best non-toon actor in it and had a great cameo as himself too), he did well in Monkeybone but the film was a flop, The Mummy Returns didn't live up to its fun predecessor (which I think's great) and ditto the whole jungle thing.
Bedazzled could've been great if he was coupled with a genuine actress and not a fake one, and I loved his banter between him and Minnie Driver in Sinbad. Get them together in an intelligent comedy/action movie NOW!
Airheads, Gods and Monsters, The Mummy and California Man are all great films and show his versatility. I just wish he lived up to his enormous potential (steady girls) and built on the success of those. I never saw The Quiet American but heard it wasn't so hot.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Status : Online | @ SJH: Oh, 'The Quiet American' was brilliant - I love that film! It was so nice to see Brendan in a serious role instead of him goofing around all the time. : I cried once or twice during it, but I won't say any more about it just in case you decide to watch it.
So far, I think Brendan has three more films in the making. One is called 'Crash' - a drama and it has Sandra Bullock and Jason Isaacs in it...then there's 'The Accidental Husband' - a romantic comedy and his co-star in that is Uma Thurman (who, personally, scares the bejaazoooos out of me [smiley=scared.gif] ) and lastly, well...I forget the title of it since I've only read about it a couple of times, but he's in an animated film...umm...I think it's about ants or something...I dunno...Anyway, it was Marlon Brando's last film... 'Crash' is the first film to be released out of those three and it's going to be premiered at the Toronto Film Festival later this year...or is it Sun Dance? Oh...poop...I'm no good at remembering details like that...Anyhoo, you lucky, lucky Americans should be seeing it before the year is out.
AHA!!! Just browsed this Brendan Fraser messageboard I am also on and here is a short post about Brendan's upcoming movies:
Crash is getting it's premiere this weekend at the Toronto Film Festival. A definate release date is yet to be set.
Big Bug Man is due for release in spring 2006.
Brendan mentioned in an interview back in January that he was developing the project The 10th Victim. Since then, I haven't heard anything else about it.
It has been said that he has left the whole Singularity behind, conflict of shooting schedules, etc.
The Accidental Husband has been on and off so many times, I've given up trying to figure out what's going on. But I haven't heard anything concrete about it in the past few months.
Gay Secret Agent? Hopefully just a nasty rumour!
The rest I think just speculation that the media refuse to let go!
OMG!!!!!!!! I just read that 'Crash' is showing at the festival already!!! *faints* Cool!!!
Oh! Also, his wife Afton recently had their second child - here's a pic of the happy couple with new baby:

Status : Offline | Spider - I guess the stage acting you saw of Brendan's was "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"? I saw it too - what a brilliant production. All the cast were good though - Frances O'Connor and Ned Beatty especially.
A friend was Assistant Director on the production and never quite got over being able to take him off for one-on-one rehearsals.
I wasn't sure about BF up till then, but I rated him after that. And I agree "The Quiet American" is a very good film - not typical of his usual type of roles at all.

Funny story - when I first went to go and see the play (which I think was September 16th), I had major butterflies in my stomach 'cause I was waiting for Brendan to come on stage. My dad had bought me a book of the script for the original play, so I read the first scene a couple of times through before I set off from the hotel to get to the theatre.
I was tracking the script through in my mind and I knew that at any moment, Brendan was going to come onto stage.
Finally, the moment arrived and there he was, standing probably ooo...about 10 feet away from me (I was in the fourth or fifth row back). The butterflies intensified and started to flutter their delicate way up into my throat. The surge of emotion was so great that I had to do something to release the pent up excitement, so, before I knew where I was, in a loud voice that I'm sure to this very day Brendan heard, I proclaimed...
HOLY CRAP!!!
Seriously! I was so embarrassed, but it kinda came out before I could do anything about it. LOL!
Do you remember that part in the play where Ned Beatty is telling the joke about elephants? Well, originally, Brendan's character wasn't supposed to laugh, but Brendan kept getting the giggles every time that bit came up in the script, so they had to allow his character to laugh. He's a funny lad...

LOL.
I'm sure that gave the cast a good chuckle backstage. I love it when an audience gets involved....

Yes. Imagine what that says about what age I look like! Didn't notice that this thread turned into a personal affair. That's what you have to expect in a thread like this. You folks are all too damn sexy.[smiley=boggled.gif]

Modesty? What's that? ???
I am a terrifically sexy bloke. 'Specially when I play the piano. Apparently.
But then sexiness is in the eye of the beholder, n'est pas? Maybe we should ask Eva.
