I just finished Jeffrey Deaver's "The Blue Nowhere" - a murder mystery with a computer twist and Carol Shield's "Stone Diaries" - a wonderful story of a woman's life from 1905 through the present. And, since I commute for an hour each way to work, I'm listening to unabridged "The Two Towers" (from recordedbooks.com) on CD in preparation for the movie release. What an adventure THAT is!

Another *great* book I read lately was Lying on the couch by Irvin D. Yalom. It's about a psychotherapist and his patients, friends and colleagues. Great stuff. Extremely funny and very profound.

I read the first few "books" (chapters?) when they came out in paperback - a friend had the first 6 books or so and then sort of lost track. How great to have all the stories in one collection! I think Amber would make an incredible graphic adventure game. If you like Amber, have you read any Steven Brust? He's one of my favorite writers and his Vlad Taltos series is excellent - and really funny too. I think Vlad would make an excellent advent. game character too!

Hmm, an Amber game. Now that would be awesome.
I've never read Steven Brust, but perhaps I should. Thanks for the recommendation.

Jonas, I can't recommend Brust's books enough. He's admittedly inspired by Zelasny. Vlad Taltos is an assasin for hire. And he dresses in black and silver like another character we know. These books are really funny - Brust has a great sense of humor. He's also a nice guy. We've exchanged a few letters over the years. I just wish he'd write more often!
PS I haven't read "Mort." Who is it by? What's it about? I like the Terry Prachett books too. I like a bit of humor with my sword and sorcery!

Deah comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job.
Now ... that Brust person seems *very* interesting.

Status : Offline | I am always reading something. I usually go for psycho killer type books before bed. Just finished Whisper of Evil by Kay Hooper and Muisc of The Spheres by Elizabeth Redfern - The second book was historical fiction, with the search for Celene the missing planet, overlayed with the French Aristo refugees from revolutionary France and a killer of young red haired women. Also re-read the Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes recently. Always nice to re-visit an old friend.
I am reading David McCullough's Book on John Adams right now and will start Tami Hoag's "ust To Dust" this evening.
