Yeah, the math puzzles were a little exasperating and the lectures by Clarke when you accidentally killed yourself were a bit boring, but I still have a nostalgia with Rama. Cleaned out a lot of my old games recently (to give to a charity), but just couldn't bring myself to giving Rama away.... I still do not know what element/quality that's in there that makes me come back to it.....weird. Corny, blunt ending...but it's the "getting there" that's kinda fun. I think they could do a sequel to it.....let's give it to Microids. Oooooooooo.......

It has been a long time since I played it and I think I agree more interaction would have been a plus.
I thought it was good game. I remember tons of paper all over the floor doing the math puzzles, almost tore my hair out and when I did solve one, I was so surprised (am very poor at math). I was as frustrated with the math as I was in Time Lapse, shooting the arrow through the right hole area in the distance. Three days later, others trying too, finally got the arrow through the hole.
I thought Rama was a good game and just needed a little more zap to make it a really good game.

I thought that the math puzzles were a bit much, but then I haven't read the book so don't know if that test was a part of the original story. I could understand that the aliens wanted to test the knowledge of the person exploring their ship but at times it seemed a bit over done to me. I also hated the timed part with the bomb. I had such a hard time navigating my way around the ship that I could never get where I needed to go before the bomb went off. Needless to say the game sits in my den unfinished.

I never expected Rama to follow the book ("Coming Soon! In a 20-CD set!"...no way). Yes, the characters could have had more interaction for sure. And the math puzzles were slightly exsperating...but if you were an alien, how would YOU test these weird humans? Colored blocks? Too easy and not definitive. Nope....it would have to be something mathematical and progressive. I'd like to see a sequel (or a complete remake) using 360 movement and improvements on the inventory list(like, getting rid of the useless items). Make it as vast as possible for exploration. I think if they could get the graphical detail like as in Myst III or Syberia, they'd have a winner. They better hurry up though...I don't think Arthur C. Clarke has too much time left...
How about The Return of Rama?
