Deleted UserThe girl sidekick in Realms of the haunting is terribly awful. She has that strange...semi-smile in almost every cut-scenes  ???, I don't think she was understanding very well what was going on in the script

Hehe, where did you remember this one Teo ...this was long time ago
I remember being really happy for this one coming up, after I had played GK2 and Phantasmagoria that I thought were great, and then I had one of the 'coldest showers' I've ever had from an adventure game.

It is a pity that Phantasmagoria 2 and Urban Runner turned into such bad adventures....maybe this was one of the reasons for the downfall of FMV as a concept...unfortunately imo.

I thought I had gotten rid of it but I guess not..it has come back to haunt me.

I actually liked phantasmagoria 2, up until the end..it just got too weird..

Well, for me - It was the Entire Cast of The Daedalus Encounter.

This game was so bad (IMHO) - and I must have mentioned it at least a dozen times.
id anyone actually enjoy this (and excuse my loose use of the word) game?

What?

Kudos to lakerz!

When I read the title of this thread it took me all of one second to think of Resident Evil 1.

The absolute worst acting is Full moon in San Francisco.
The extremely lame humor compounds it.  It is supposedly set in SF but the female main character's accent is French Canadian.  I wish I had never purchased this game. On many levels this games sucks.

Deleted UserThe acting in Schizm was poor - really noticeably so -

but the all time low has to be 7th Guest.
It's Soooooooo cheesy. One of the actresses is mimicing Mae West, I think. And the magician still has me in fits with his over acting. Mind you - I enjoy it as part of the game.
I can't say I enjoyed the bad acting in Schizm.

I adore Tim Curry in Gabriel - but I'm a fan!

Tim Curry might not have been everyone's "ideal" Gabriel Knight but there are vast minons of infinitely poorer actors to choose from. Ya know.

The way things are going in her acting career, we may well see Madonna show up in an Adventure game role!

The future ain't what it used to be!

- but I didn't think she was THAT bad in Evita - very good actually.
Lamentable in anything else I've seen her in though...

Monkeybone,

It could have been Dennis Hopper. Can you imagine?

"Grace! Don't look at me, Grace! Grace! I said don't look at me!!"

I still stand by the entire cast of Synnergist as the all time worst acting. Has anyone else heard of this game? It is so bad it is good that turns terrible and circles back around to kinda "squashed bug" fascinating. Imagine sneaking in on a 7th grade class during the first day of rehearsing the school play. The graphics were cool though, very crude collagey, colorful, primitive, huh??? sort of visual style.

I had my doubts when I saw screenshots of the interface - grey form "submit" buttons - I mean c'mon!  Oh and the graphics - yeah right.  Looks like the reviewer here liked it though.  He gave it a B+?????  So we have a "on many levels this game sucks" and then a reviewer who gives it a B+

Guess I'll wait for some for user feedback before I think about purchasing.  Just from the screenshots it does look pretty pathetic though.

Oh, and com on!!! Tim Cury is a great actor.
Did you see him in "It"?

In GK1 he's O.K, but in GK3 he's horrible.

I'm only a quarter way through GK3, BUT
I think Tim Curry is doing a bang up job!

I don't get why everyone says he sucked in this game.  It is much more entertaining to play him with all this sarcasm, and macho remarks than say playing the perfectionist Gracie.

I think people just react to his character, not the quality of his acting.  But maybe towards the end of the game it gets worst?  I doubt it though.  Keep in mind that inthe GK series the actors had to sit there and read of a list of a million things like "That's a tree", Grass, Some birds, nice view and on and on and on.  I love how somehting is said wherever you click but it would be rather boring for an actor I'm sure.

Sorry, I change my mind and voted Zork like worst acting......

I meant - Vote Zork Nemesis as "better" acting.
The worst acting goes to character Carlo Genovese in Byzantine.

Maybe Hopper and Garr appeared bored in Black Dahlia by design so as not to steal the show from the game plot and the main character. Ok, maybe that's a stretch. Or maybe they were made to appear kind of passive like bored in order to be like characters in a role playing game, generally not very emotional. So their cutscenes were sort of like the role playing part of Black Dahlia. Being as how games try to mix in several types of gameplay: adventure, puzzles, action, role playing, etc.

bored? I thought they were just in character. World weary - that sort of thing.

I thought they were OK.

I still think passionate acting will only add to a game -rather than detract.
I don't think it would be wise to purposely play your character 'down'.
Then it would be like your character is outside the actual game - rather than part of it.

AND in Legend (one of the most underrated films ever IMO that is)! And he was hilarious in Clue, The Shadow, Congo, Loaded weapon 1 and many otherwise awful movies. He can make a mediocre comedy absolutely worth while.

As for his GK1 + 3, I think both are really okay. I'm afraid our dear friend Gabriel himself is not so likable, not the actor who is playing him. I personally didn't like Dean Erickson (though I absolutely loved the game) but when I saw him on Frasier, he was allright.

The worst acting in a game IMO definitely is the whole cast of Phantasmagoria. Couldn't have cared less with what happened to them .... Wish I never bought (or played) the stupid thing actually.
