I can't wait. It looks ASTOUNDING... well, as astounding any miniscule video stream can get.

I have inside info on this too. But I can't give any away!

Ooh, looks promising! [smiley=slurp.gif]
But do we really have to wait for a year?  :-/
Do go on! I always yawn, when I'm fascinated!

Hmmm... one of the very few trailers that actually leave an impression. I like it.

Can't wait.

No, wait, I can

Bear in mind it's under studio lighting.

Yup, saw the teaser a few days ago too and it looks great! seems like there's finally a worthy successor for Tim Burton at the helm of this series.
It won't be the same though. It looks as if Nolan's version will be much more serious, less funny. Certainly looks like it'll work!

And as for Christian Bale for Batman, I've always thought highly of him as an actor and it looks like he'll be perfect for this part. In fact, looks like he'll outdo all previous actors who've played the winged superhero.

What is this about?
Batman showed up only in the last few shots, I already thought you mixed up the trailers or something...
It doesn't look like it's playing in a fantasy universe, it looks more like Tibet.

Bats got part of his training in Tibet, so that explains that. I'm sure most of the film will take place in Gotham.

Deleted UserThe true Batman stories aren't set in a total fantasy universe. Remember Batman is only human, like you or I, and in this is also prone to making mistakes.

In the comics, there was no definite villain that killed Bruce's parents. It wasn't the Joker. Bruce grows up under the tutelage of the family butler, Alfred, and goes on a journey to discover different techniques in getting rid or wrong-doers. He is plagued by a lust for revenge, which can never be sated because he could never find out who his parents killer was.

As such, this is more a standalone prequel to the other films and isn't related, much in the way as the comics throughout its long history have rewritten the ethos. Christopher Nolan is a clever director and a bit more of a fan of the realist Batmans, and as such, even though there's going to be plenty of action, Batman himself is more prone to human error and physics. Despite this, there will also be the notion that Bruce "transforms" into a seperate character, almost a monster, when wearing the mask.

If you want to know a little more about that, PM me and I'll let you into a little inside knowledge.
Only for people I can trust, mind.

In the original comics Bruce's parents were gunned down by a small time thief called Joe Chill.  The Joker link was just a handy piece of circular storytelling in the first film as they were both responsible for each other's creation.

I'd highly recommend Frank Miller's four part take on the story, collected in one volume - "Year One", which was most likely the primary source for the new movie, as it shared the working title for a while, and Miller was (still is?) on a co-writing credit.

Along with The Dark Knight Returns (Batman post retirement), The Killing Joke and perhaps Son of the Demon, it's in the top rank of greatest modern Batman stories.

Deleted UserHey, I just read that somewhere! Joe Chill. It also said he was already dead by the time Batman finds him, so his bloodlust remains unsated. Was that on AICN?

No, I used to read Batman before I went to Uni, got a large collection at home.

I don't remember what happened to Joe Chill - I do recall that Batman caught up with the guy when he was an old man, and yes, he didn't get his revenge (or at least he realised it wouldn't make any difference, because the man he'd been looking for had turned into a general obsession about catching all criminals, and this one act of revenge would make no difference at all to his personal demons).

And that is very cool. Wonder if they are going to make use of the Larazus Pit?

There's been a new trailer and the Super Bowl TV spot added since that original teaser went live. You'll also find both the US and international posters, as well as, wallpaper, icons, and plenty of photos of the cast.

If the Super Bowl spot won't play, here are a couple other links:

Part of the final trailer was shown on MTV. Here's a link to it:  http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1500723/04252005/story.jhtml#

Some are saying that this is only half of it. The beginning is cut off and there's been an edit made somewhere in the middle. There's alot of new stuff shown, as well as, the first released audio from both villain(main one Ra's al Ghul and minor The Scarecrow).

And the kind people at MTV tell me:

Detecting OS...
PC Users with Windows 95 or 98: you need to run Windows 2000 or Windows XP to use MTV Overdrive.

No trailer for me then. Oh well.  :

Heck, I forgot to update this. The high quality official,  quicktime versions got released. This is the full trailer and is a minute longer than what MTV put up(they essentially cut off the first half of it) but I think they've since put up the full one, too.

Here's yet another full length trailer. It's the international one and is longest and best one of ones that have been released:

http://www.warnerbros.co.uk/batmanbegins/video.html

It's the one on the right. I love that last part where Bats is standing on the building and you hear that great line from Liam Neeson. I really like the line delivery.

It still looks more than ok, but I think it's getting in danger of becoming overhyped. Then again, maybe not and it will truely be the awesome film it promises to be. I've grown a bit wary of it, try not to expect too much.
