Bear in mind it's under studio lighting.

And as for Christian Bale for Batman, I've always thought highly of him as an actor and it looks like he'll be perfect for this part. In fact, looks like he'll outdo all previous actors who've played the winged superhero.

In the comics, there was no definite villain that killed Bruce's parents. It wasn't the Joker. Bruce grows up under the tutelage of the family butler, Alfred, and goes on a journey to discover different techniques in getting rid or wrong-doers. He is plagued by a lust for revenge, which can never be sated because he could never find out who his parents killer was.
As such, this is more a standalone prequel to the other films and isn't related, much in the way as the comics throughout its long history have rewritten the ethos. Christopher Nolan is a clever director and a bit more of a fan of the realist Batmans, and as such, even though there's going to be plenty of action, Batman himself is more prone to human error and physics. Despite this, there will also be the notion that Bruce "transforms" into a seperate character, almost a monster, when wearing the mask.
If you want to know a little more about that, PM me and I'll let you into a little inside knowledge. Only for people I can trust, mind.

I'd highly recommend Frank Miller's four part take on the story, collected in one volume - "Year One", which was most likely the primary source for the new movie, as it shared the working title for a while, and Miller was (still is?) on a co-writing credit.

Along with The Dark Knight Returns (Batman post retirement), The Killing Joke and perhaps Son of the Demon, it's in the top rank of greatest modern Batman stories.

I don't remember what happened to Joe Chill - I do recall that Batman caught up with the guy when he was an old man, and yes, he didn't get his revenge (or at least he realised it wouldn't make any difference, because the man he'd been looking for had turned into a general obsession about catching all criminals, and this one act of revenge would make no difference at all to his personal demons).

Some are saying that this is only half of it. The beginning is cut off and there's been an edit made somewhere in the middle. There's alot of new stuff shown, as well as, the first released audio from both villain(main one Ra's al Ghul and minor The Scarecrow).

And the kind people at MTV tell me:
Detecting OS... PC Users with Windows 95 or 98: you need to run Windows 2000 or Windows XP to use MTV Overdrive.
No trailer for me then. Oh well. :

It's the one on the right. I love that last part where Bats is standing on the building and you hear that great line from Liam Neeson. I really like the line delivery.
