Well, I am starting to get trivia/puzzle game creation withdrawals, so I had to make up something quick to get my fix. This is a rather easy one I drummed up rather quickly tonight.

Objective

You will notice in the zip file below that there are 2 sound clips for each number. You need to identify the actor speaking in each clip and the movie it is from. THEN, you need to figure out what movie the two actors starred in together.  This means there are 5 answers for each number. Each answer is worth 1 pt.

Hypothetical example: (Clip 11A) Jodie Foster - Taxi Driver  + (Clip 11B) Anthony Hopkins -  Meet Joe Black  =  The Silence of the Lambs

Answers must be sent by PM. There is no limit on the number of PMs, however you only get one answer attempt for each segment of each number. There is a maximum of 50 possible pts. The quiz is over 1 week from today at this time.

1.4MB zip file

By now I really think you are describing it like it was all that easy just to get more credit!  :

Where do you get all those sound snippets?
You really ARE The Riddler.

LOL! I happen to own nearly 2000 DVDs, so sound clips are a breeze to get if I want them, particularly since I have a DVD-ROM in my computer.

That wasn't a typo. Nearly two thousand. I went through a bit of a movie phase for a while there...

FTR, BacardiJim already has 35 pts...

Hooray! New game!

I have about 1000 titles, about a quarter of those are VHS replacements onto DVD. So using a skewed sense of logic I should be able to get at least 25 points out of this game. We shall see. Or perhaps our tastes in film are so separate I won't get any. Hmmm.   :-/

Well, only about half of my DVDs are applicable. All the rest are porn.

LMAO!  Seriously though, about half are foreign films which I couldn't use in a contest like this...

Well... you could. It would have to be seriously iconic dialogue though. Consider it the "Classical music clip" of the movie game.

The current scores are:

BacardiJim - 44
Dombrewer - 44
Ivinia - 41

I don't have time at the moment to make a list of who guessed what, but the only ones that haven't been answered by anyone yet are the movies for 7B and 8A.

I'll have to think about that. Perhaps if I included the English translation with the clip it might work...

Thanks for putting this together!

Well, listened to the clips. Think I recognize one actor and I don't even know from which movie that is! :-[ I'll try again later, still a bit sleepy at the moment. Yeah, that must be it!
Either that or I just have a really crappy memory or our tastes in movies is totally different.

No no, keep it in the original language! Movies don't get dubbed over here. I might have a better chance at recognizing them than the others here.
Say, you wouldn't have any Dutch movies in your collection now would you? Use those!

You misunderstood. I am VEHEMENTLY against dubbing of any kind. I absolutely refuse to watch anything that isn't in its original language. What I meant was that I would post the sound clip in the original language, but type in the english translation in the forum.

Ah ok, I get it now.  Totally agree with you: dubbing is just awful! But you should include some foreign films (with an English translation then). I might have an easier time with those than I do with the ones in this quiz.

I'd be interested to know which answers you guys missed -

I guessed the Adam Sandler and Mel Gibson films wrong.

Good quiz Bastich, thanks.

Movie freaks yes, but this contest was a bit too easy in that typing in the lines or part of the actors lines into Google would usually return the name of the movie.  Granted it took awhile to do, but...

I had an idea for a contest on here that involved identifying a book by the first line, but then found that you could do a google search and find the book.  In a nutshell, that contest wouldn't have been much of a contest.  Unfortunately, this contest fell into the same category.

ROFL, Elfstone!
on't feel bad for your score.  The thing is, we are adventure gamers and used the tools at our disposal to research the answers.

I wouldn't call it cheating, but I don't think that was what Bastich intended us to do when he came up with the contest.  The most unfortunate part is that Bastich probably spent more time putting together the contest than we spent finding the answers....

Shame Ivinia! In that case I can glow with pride. Having seen all the films Bastich sourced it was actually a memory and deduction test, not a researching one. >

All the research I did was consult the Internet Movie Database to get ideas about possible films the quotes came from.

I knew all the actors pretty much straight away, and if I didn't know the film straight away, looked through the credits of the actors to give me a prod in the right direction. Made quite a few guesses - most of them right.
