This is a false rumour. A PC release has been confirmed in this very forum. I was going to link to it, but I can't seem to find the thread now :|

This was the response I posted in the earlier thread:
"Our designated primary platform is PC. It's our ambition to create the highest resolution computer game ever - a hint of which can be seen in the trailer. I think targeting a console platform would compromise the quality and that's not where we want to go."

While it is probably way too late for a wish list, here goes:
- Solve puzzles in any order
- No dismal B-movie sequences ala 11th Hour
- No randomly insoluble puzzles ala 11th Hour
- No busywork filler puzzles ala 11th Hour
Guess I didn't realize how many things irked me about 11th Hour. That said, very much looking forward to The Collector.

Even managed to defeat the dreaded bean puzzle at the end of the 11th Hour to unlock the entire house.  Never made it to the end of 11th Hour before today. Stalled on the "sometimes it's insoluble" slider puzzle.)
Still remember upgrading my computer to play the 7th Guest. Had to make the jump all the way from a 386 to a 486!
It was great hearing Stauf screaming "Come back!" as I shut down the 7th Guest this afternoon. Ah, memories....
Splashing around in the first two has really gotten me psyched to play The Collector. Since representatives of Lunny Interactive have been drifting through these forums, is it unreasonable to ask if one of them would care to quantify what the "Soon" in "Coming Soon" means? Weeks, months, quarters?

What I found was a site with a sense of humor about having what used to be the url of a game site. It also offered this great link:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/btg-tri/index.html
This will take you to Haunted Glory: The Rise and Fall of Trilobyte by Geoff Keighley. Fascinating story. Well worth a read as The Collector draws near.

And then has the nerve to say this....

Little realizing that the representative of Lunny Interactive was the director responsible for what the idiot described as....
dismal B-movie sequences
Oh, yeah. I'm the idiot.  OH! :-[
Sorry, David. Reading the article on Trilobyte put everything in a completely different perspective.
Eagerly awaiting any news on The Collector with money in hand and foot in mouth.

i cant get the trailer to work, just the sound. its says some rats about the compresser. can anyone help? im using apples movie thing to run it
Its boring, there isn't any action at all. You walk around picking up things and using them with other items. You walk around and use the item on something. Walking around and talking to people is really lame, what about some shooting or something~APuddleduck&&

Status : Online | Some answers to a couple of questions regarding The Collector.
1. "Coming Soon"??? "Soon", I know, is pretty confusing and also difficult for me to define, but "soon" may be as far away as a year from now. Sorry if that's disappointing. It's a huge project, extremely ambitious and nothing short of the very best will do.
2. There will NOT be any ridiculously unsolvable puzzles. Some fans really loved the most challenging puzzles in The 7th Guest so we stepped it up in a couple of cases in 11th Hour and succeded in pissing people off. We won't do that again.
3. There WILL be video sequences, hopefully neither "B" nor "abysmal". We've come a long way since 11th Hour having made two highly acclaimed interactive movies - Tender Loving Care starring John Hurt and Point Of View - both of which have garnered many great reviews and won awards all over the world. So maybe we'll get it right with The Collector.
4. If you're having trouble viewing the trailer, perhaps you could try accessing it from our server at http://www.lunny.com/collectordemo.html. It might work better.
Cheers,
David

*DROOL*
There, I've said it. I've had that trailer sitting on my desktop forever, and I couldn't view it 'coz I had to uninstall QT6 to install QT3 to play Morpheus. Since I finished the game and am done with my write-up of it, I uninstalled QT3, installed QT6, and finally got to watch the trailer.
I need this game. Hey Mr. Wheeler, do you guys need beta testers?

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
The trailer might play a little smoother at the Lunny site for some of you because we have a couple of enhancements in place but we've heard very few complaints from the JA site.

I had no problem with the movie sequences in the 11th Hour. Ofcourse, without the hint book I would've been absolutely stuck from the beginning, word games are just a little too out of my league, I'm more of a number-guy, that's probably why the cash register-puzzle was too easy for me.

The acting was a little shabby in the sequel but I enjoyed the storyline neverthesless.
I have a few questions about 7th guest 3 if anyone knows the answers: i) Any release date mentioned? Or month of release? ii) Any idea of minimum spec. required to run the game? iii) Will Stauf be present in this game? iv) Does the storyline take place under the premise that you LOST the 7th guest (that's what I read in an interview quite some time ago with trilobyte)? v) If not, then how can the storyline continue when Stauf's mansion was clearly destroyed at the end of the 11th hour? vi) In the trailer, what house are you visitting? It looks like a museum of some kind?
Sorry about all the questions - I can hardly wait for it to come out so I am really curious! :-*
Cheers!
- Dovi.

Here's a clip from the design document which I posted in an earlier thread and which might answer some of your questions.  Stauf LIVES!)
"Henry Stauf has moved on from his mysterious mansion on the Hudson River in upstate New York. He now resides in his own museum that appears to exist in a timeless world in some peculiar European town or city. Stauf has populated his collection with objects and artifacts from around the globe and from throughout time. These items tell fantastic, but historically accurate tales of evil, triumph and the absurd throughout human history. Stauf's museum is a strange, shifting maze-like environment. There are worlds within worlds in this extraordinary, magical place. This is not so much a museum of natural history, but of the unnatural history of mankind."
Release date is probably as much as a year from now. It's too early to define minimum specs but I can say that my partner and game designer, Rob Landeros, and I are committed to creating the highest resolution game ever, so....it probably won't run on your average 486.
Cheers,
David Wheeler Producer/Director of The Collector

Can you release any more information about the storyline? The trailer was awesome but terribly vague - it didn't really tell you anything. ???  oes this story follow on from the 7th guest or from the 11th hour?
Is stauf the same actor as he was in the other 2 games?
i am really excited - I can't believe I have to wait a year or more. I hope it's worth the wait.
Cheers, Dovi.

Status : Online | Hello all. Here's an overview of what The Collector is all about, regarding gameplay.
The initial game takes place within the confines of Henry Stauf's museum of unnatural history, but the museum is a portal to worlds within worlds, puzzles within puzzles, stories within stories and games within games. It's very deep, complex and entertaining. There are 12 galleries which are accessed through a 3 dimentional game board which is a replica of the museum itself. You are The Visitor and must play a 3D strategy game on the board against Stauf, The Collector, to gain passage to the galleries. Each gallery is loaded with interactive objects, living statues, paintings you can enter and hands on displays which open up games and puzzles and movies related to art, history, mythology and cataclysmic events. Sail the Nina with Columbus, fight the minotaur under the Palace of Knossus, do a speed test from the book depository in Dallas, look in on a scene from the Spanish Inquisition.... For your successes, you are rewarded with priceless museum objects which you must uncrate, using our phisics engine, and put on display in the 13th Gallery, your gallery, thus The Vistor becomes The Collector.
