No. I had a technical difficulty and I only played about 1/4 of the game and have to try again, however, in the part that I did play I found Kate annoying. She allowed everyone (her boyfriend and her mother) to push her around too much. And her boss treated her like a combination of door mat and servent, showing little respect for her as a person or as a well educated attorney. And I didn't like her girlfriend either. Shopping was her avocation.
I have read that Kate's personality changes as the game goes on. I hope that means that she matures as a person and is more true to herself rather than trying to please everyone else.
Have I ever been in love with a male character. No there also. However, I found the Gabriel character in GK2 physically very attractive. On the other hand, Gabriel, IMHO, is an almost perfect male chauvinist. Sorry to those of you who loved him. I don't want to start a war but he really was full of himself. The games are very separate from his personality - they are terrific and top notch.
The Baron character (von Glower or something like that) was also very attractive. But not enough to make me love him.
Falling in love with a character is an interesting concept. I think that movie characters are far easier to fall in love with or be infatuated by. That's a whole other subject.

I think that was the gist of the story - or at least central to the plot. In five words or less: She matured and moved on.
It's too bad you had problems running the game, I found story and characters quite enjoyable.

I agree that Gabriel Knight was attractive in the second game and I did have a small crush on Von Glower
SPOILER:
It didn't stop me from killling him though - but it was very sad :'(

For Elaine lovers, Escape From Monkey Island is the best part of them all. She doesn't have much screenplay (nice pun) in this one, either. But when she is actually on screen, it's...uhm...excuse me...where did I put that game... *goodbye*

In the end she dumps them both, and for a good reason And she quits her job. So yes, in the end Kate isn't so bad.
However, I found the Gabriel character in GK2 physically very attractive. On the other hand, Gabriel, IMHO, is an almost perfect male chauvinist. I think you're right. Especially in GK3 (but GK2 too) he's soo bloody obnoxious and annoying that I'm always surprised the women don't just tell him to *bleep* off.

Game characters have a lot going for them - you can play them and/or interact with them the way you want. In movies you have no choice, in games there's at least some choice.
And who are my favourites? Kate Walker, not really. Can't quite put a finger on why not. April Ryan, yeah, what a spunky teenager. Elaine Marley is cool of course. One character that I'll never forget is Shella from Shannara. At one point in the game you have to kill her and that almost broke my heart.
But my #1 is Grace Nakimura, hands down. What a smart girl! And she loves mysteries! And she's into computers too! Just like me

| Deleted User | I can sort of understand the guys falling in love with April Ryan. The Longest Journey had an air of romance about it - quite separate from an individual character. I wanted April to fall in love with her mentor - oh, darn, what was his name??
I HOPE that we have the change to meet April again in another game.
This is a good subject Lancelot.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Man, could you imagine living a life with Kate Walker?
"arling, could you go to the kitchen and fetch a cold beer for me?"
"No need to go down there!"

Certainly not "beauty queen" or "movie star" beautiful. But then again, maybe that made them a lot more real and believable.

I dont agree that April and Kate were not nice. They are typical "french"-style beauties similar to Nico from the BS3: a little bit cartoonesque, over-stylized, but exactly that makes their appereance caracteristic and charming and exiting (at least for me.)
Although I think that sometimes it is much easier to fall in love with a minor game (and also film) character about whom you dont know to much. In this case you can fill the "blank parts" of her/his personality with your imagination. It is perhaps a little bit similar to chat, where you dress anybody with imagined characterisctics...

Owww! Another nice girl was Kate Lomax from Heart of China.
I dont agree that April and Kate were not nice. But "nice" and "charming" is not the same thing as "beautiful". I would say those are only very loosely related.
Let me put it this way: you can see a photo of a girl and say "she's beautiful". But you don't know if she's nice and charming until you meet her. She might be beautiful but still be dumb and/or a b*tch.
