Well, I expect it to be funny, but I'm not sure if it will be possible to be as funny as the previous ones, since Al Lowe is not on the team, and especially since the character isnt Leisure Suit Larry himself, but his nephew.

But hey, I'm kind of optimistic. I don't mind playing action/adventures, but I'm really disapointed that it isn't a "real" sequel to Larry 7 Love for Sail.

I saw the trailer (on my games magazine DVD)... it was rather silly to me. I'm not sure to what the old Larry games were like, but was a bit... over the top. Old story; Lady with big breasts, Lary makes fake phonecall (which you  have to make with a minigame involving a spermcell flying thourgh a maze). And he gets chased by angry women. And he farted as some person was beating his own record.
Nothing for me

Can't say i'm holding out much hope for this title.

It's definatly not in my to buy list at the moment.

I keep wanting to say "what a pile of festering ****" everytime I see it, but will hold off until it is released and more is shown about it.

Been covered in a number of threads before now... but then again you're only after pimpage for your webby.

I'm not looking forward to it and will not be getting it. Absolutely nothing I've seen thus far shouts out 'buy me'. It's a game for the console generation with some marketing association against a old brand. Shame on 'em.

I'm not expecting anything of interest to me since it is not going to be an adventure game.  Instead the evil empire (whoops I mean VU Games) have opted for a series of mini-games as the core gameplay mechanic.  Thusly, the game holds no appeal to me.  ...bysmitty

I think that was a terible thing to do with the LSL series but then I might get it just to see if I was right. A lot of  games have a special style and will fail if it's not kept and I think this is one of them.

I have to agree with the general sentiments of the posters here. To co-opt another man's creation (talking about Al here)  and then not have him have any involvement in a project with Leisure Suit Larry all over it seems suspect, to say the least. However, it's not really surprising, is it?
As far as the game itself, I'm going to wait until it comes out to pass judgement on its relative merits. It might turn out to be a breath of fresh air, who knows?   :

It might be fun. But it's not going to be an adventure game.

Too puerile for my tastes.

Still adventuring after all these years!

Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...

... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...

I won't dismiss it absolutely until I've read the reviews, but it doesn't really sound like something I'd like. I'm really not keen on mini-games, and from the sound of it they make up pretty much the entire game. It's not enough for it to be funny if the gameplay is tedious and uninteresting.

Isn't it colossally ironic that one could make precisely the same observation about Chuck Benton, who designed and programmed "Softporn Adventure"? He had no input at all into Leisure Suit Larry 1 -- he wasn't even involved with Sierra by the time Al got there -- but LSL1 used Chuck's exact plot and puzzles. LSL1 added graphics and Al's much more developed sense of humor, but the gameplay itself was, puzzle for puzzle, straight out of Softporn.

Thus, one could argue that LSL1 was far more derivative of Softporn Adventure than Magna Cum Laude is derivative of LSL. MCL uses the Larry name and the same theme ("get the buffoon to score with the women"
, but as far as I know, MCL is not using specific plot points or puzzles straight out of the previous Larry games, the way LSL1 did with Softporn.

One could further argue that the "get the buffoon to score with the women" theme (at least as it's applied to computer games) originated with Softporn Adventure, not with LSL. Therefore there's even less co-opting going on here than it appears upon cursory examination, unless one wants to say that MCL is co-opting Chuck Benton's work.

Seems its going to be VERY adult oriented. The others were tongue-in-cheek adult humor but nothing like you'll see in the one coming up.

The name alone allowed them to use a sexual reference never seen in a game's name before (i mean a regular game, not one put out by the p0rn industry).

Why is everybody so negative about it? I think it's going to be great. Give it some credit!

Why do *you* think we're all wrong? Perhaps you look for something in a game that I/we don't?

The op wasn't really looking for answers... he was merely using the Q as smokescreen to pimping his site
However, he got some answers and rather [un]surprisingly they were mostly negative. It it works for you then cool, load it on yer X-Box and be done with it
You don't have to worry about what other people think!

Primarily, people are disappointed Al Lowe isn't involved with it's creation.

As far as my opinion, I just see another Akklaim game.. the opportunity to market the game for sexual content.

I was recently at a rather small gaming...convention, I guess you could call it, called GameRiot.  It showcased 35 new and unreleased games from several publishers/developers.  Vivendi happened to have a small booth showcasing a few of its games.  Lo and behold, LSL:MCL was one of them.  It was actually receiving very little attention, given the very risque material, but that was probably because it was in the corner where few people could see it and the pre-release they had kept freezing up.

Anyway, I got my hands on the controller for about 10 minutes (XBOX version).  All I really saw was a little arcade thing at the bottom of the screen.  What you would do is move the sperm around obstacles and try to get through the "Green" obstacles to raise a heart meter.  Pretty fun, but there had better be more to the game than doing THAT every five minutes.

What is matter? What is mind? No matter. Never mind.

I'm giving the game the benefit of the doubt at the moment. It could still turn out to be a great game, even without Al Lowe being involved. The designers seem genuine about creating an entertaining game instead of a cheap adult oriented game. I'll wait till the reviews and a playable demo before passing judgement.
