[smiley=shaking_head.gif]Where have all the great intros of games gone?

Ever since I have been able to discover the old school games, I have been ever so aware of the fantastic intros of those games that are now nowhere to be seen.

Why have things gotten worst than better? [smiley=shudder.gif]

Thank goodness for UNDERDOGS-at least I can be entertained! [smiley=thumbs.gif]

For adventure game intros, the one that I was blown away by most was for "The Ward".  That got me pumped up to play it.

There are some really great intros from older games, that you indeed don't see these days. Broken Sword 1 comes to mind, as does Journeyman Project 3.....

/me breaks into a chorus of "Where Have All The Intros Gone?".....

Have to agree with BJ.

Day of the Tentacle best intro ever.

Dear Diary, My teenage angst bullsh*t now has a bodycount.

Deleted UserI really liked MI3: The Curse of Monkey Island's intro/s.

I have a good feeling we're gonna have reminiscent intros to those with the upcoming (or should I say downcoming
) comic adventure from Autumn Moon Entrtainment, A Vampyre Story.

Myst 3, Atrus's narration underscored by Jack Wall's amazing music. Turn up the speakers!

Dark Fall has a pretty creepy intro, gave my roomate nightmares, as did The Black Mirror.

Ripper and Black Dahlia, not my favorites, but both with great intros.

Zork Nemesis - nothing like stabbing yourself to start off a game.

Not so much an adventure, but Star Trek: Bridge Commander has an amazing intro, just like an episode of the show.

Only because I started playing it yesterday so it is right at the front of my mind - but the intro to "American McGee's Alice" is pretty awesome.

In fact, it's a superb game. Why am I writing this? I'm going back to Wonderland.

Well, when I think of a new game with a great intro, I would go for the Black Mirror. After seeing that I was already thrilled [smiley=shudder.gif] and the rest of the game didn't disappoint me after that

No one mentioned Thief yet - which just totally blew me away.

I also think games like BloodRayne and Half-Life deserve an honoralble mention (even though they're not  Adventure titles - they still had great intros).    :

What?

At the time the one I LOVED and the first one that really got to me was King's Quest 4's--largely due to the great score.

The theatre opening for COlonel's Bequest was nice too--the voyage in the swamp etc--really got u into the feel of the game

When in Rome....

Independence War had an incredible opening, about 15 minutes long.

Talking about non- adventure, are we?

If so, the first Lands Of Lore has a great intro as well...
