I am a big fan of Clive Cussler's novels and some of them seem ideal for adventure games.  While reading them you can see the various actions and paths the characters could take, particularly the "Kurt Austin" novels.  Because he's a best selling author he has a large fanbase which, with the right promotion, could boost sales for both his books and the games.  The games could introduce his books to a younger audience.

Not an adventure, but there will be a game based on the upcoming Sahara movie.

I've always considered his books more action than adventure - can't say I'm even that keen on them as they all seem too much alike - read one, read them all! Would think that some (but not all) of Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child's books would possibly make a better adventure game, but even then, there's generally quite a bit of action, still personally I much prefer their writing.
