Status : Online | Has been reported all over since the original annoucement. It's really nothing to be sad about. The Sierra that most of 'us' refer to has been long gone for years - not long after the time Ken sold up I'd imagine. The designers/developers from that era are probably long gone with pastures new (some better and some not so I expect).
The brand of Sierra is still being retained which is normal/typical/annoying but that's life. Like the re-emergence of Atari a couple of years back. It means nothing other than an old name...

I'm not too horrified, but after all that is the end of over 20 years (longer than I live!) games making. It is still sad. :'(
But, regardig to what plswdth has said, I truly wonder how this affects copyright/right issues.
Maybe the news about Sierra's downfall got something to do with Dimi's surprise?

If Vivendi now owns the Sierra characters, does that mean we're gonna see a Gabriel Knight action/adventure?:

Ack! Don't even joke about that!
Sierra's gone? This barely merits a shoulder shrug. Like LucasArts, Sierra has been dead to me for a long time. But if this changes the status of the Gabriel Knight copyrights in anyway, great!

People are expecting a game with that name to be simular with just a few improvments and differnt stories and it will still have to retain that original style of game play.

Still there are so many who got their start at Sierra and then Sierra Online. So, I am sure this is a bittersweet nostalgic moment for many.
Well I will join in on the toast to what was and add a another for what will be.
