oh god, i shudder to think what will be in there... all those TopX lists are usually waaaaay off and more often than not based on what's commercial and not what's good... and it's a Top 20 OF ALL TIME too? i wonder how many infocom, level 9, magnetic scrolls advs will be there... and how many early sierra... and if those awesome gfx but sure not THAT good advs will be there instead... i bet they will

It's good to see sites' Top XX lists, because you get to see how close their view of games comes to yours.  I'm curious to see which GK game they think is the best, and whether they consider Syberia to be 'classic' enough to go in the list.  And then I'll join the debate that's bound to go on in their forums.

/me waits with baited breath.

Does anyone here might guess what the number one adventure game would be?

Hi all,
The people who do the AdventureGamers site care  about adventure games.  Marek posts here  regularly.  I am looking forward to seeing the games they pick, and the reasons why they picked them.  Will I agree with every single one?  I'm sure I won't, but that won't take away my enjoyment at reading the list, and seeing the games they pick and the reasons why they picked them.  Like Nellie, I am waiting with baited breath!

Thanks Harriet, for posting the info.  Pity about some of the posts on this thread.

You know, I love Myst, but if the game isn't on AdventureGamers top 10 lists, so be it.

Regards, mszv

Hasn't Myst been number 1 on other 'top' lists in the past? I thought I seen it in some gamer magazine before.

Deleted UserTLJ in first place maybe? or Grim Fandango...

8 DEC 2002 at 1:23pm
Deleted UserEvan is writing the Top 20 and he has given it a lot of thought. He's been working on it for a couple of months now, shuffling the numbers back and forth until he thinks he has a perfect list. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and we are not trying to force ours on you with this Top 20. The discussions around the (perhaps controversial?) choices in the list will all be part of the fun!

1. If Myst and especially Riven aren't in the top 20 then I'll start to play FPS with madness.
2. Grim Fandango and especially TLJ (great adventure games) they haven't got the stand for 1st place.
3.I will not fall into trap
to say what sould be 1st (you know what I mean,oh and don't look my image profile when I'm saying that...) or ...... what souldn't

Deleted UserHi sazka,  You should give the first Myst a try.  You might love it or you might not - but you'll never know unless you try.

Personally, I tried all three and didn't like any of them.  They were graphically beautiful with great puzzles but tooooo lonely for my taste.

Same with me, Harriet. But still, we both loved Zork Nemesis, another lonely game. Strange, isn't it? I think that, although you were lonely in this game, you were "in touch" with many characters.

You are noticed and admired for your good taste, high intelligence and awareness that these 3 games (or at least the first 2) should be on any adventure top-20 list. And that is the last word on the subject!

If it weren't for Myst  I wouldn't have become an adventure game fanatic and spent all those $$$$$. Boooo Myst! But still...it should make the top 20. Otherwise, how can I explain my insanity?

Yup I know! I've been too busy (or lazy) to find out what is wrong with it. It is a JPG and is fairly small (72x81 pixels) so I can't figure out why it's not printing. Any ideas? I feel sort of......insignificant/less than complete/not the man I want to be....without a working avatar
.

The file seems to be corrupted somehow, it doesn't appear to have a valid header (containing the characters 'JFIF') at all. I hope you have a backup copy
