OMG.  I had Canon in D...but none of the midi's I listened too sounded like it!!!  But the cell phone ring called Canon in D did, so I assumed the cell phone was wrong on the name!!  Grrrrr.....but I guess 13 out of 15 isn't bad.

BTW, Bastich, my last score was 225, so my total should be 355.

Ok, these contests have become WAY too much stress for me...

Deleted Userdammitdammitdammit!  I thought I recognized #6 from the movie Ordinary People.  I looked it up to discover that the music I was thinking of was Pachelbel's "Canon in D."  But when I found a sample of it, it wasn't the same music... or at least not the same passage.  So I dismissed my gut instinct as wrong.

Sweet Dreams was my second guess for #15.  :'(
No excuse for missing #7.  I knew I knew it and just couldn't pull it out of my.... head.

I didn't use the intro to Canon in D, so that probably threw some of you off. The piece builds up to the part I played after a minute or two. I also played it a bit faster than it is normally played.

Weird isn't it?  You and I must have grabbed the same midi of it!

After dismissing #15 of being a slow version of Crazy Train by Ozzy (LOL), I settled on Sweet Dreams but figured Bastich was probably using Marlyn Manson's version.  I couldn't find that one to listen to anywhere and started to second guess myself.  I went to Every Breath You Take by the Police to Sunglasses at night by Cory Hart before I FINALLY found a Maralyn Manson version of Sweet Dreams that fit perfectly!

Phew! These are exhausting.  Kudos to Bastich for another great one!

Deleted UserI went with the Corey Hart, but when it was wrong I knew it had to be Sweet Dreams.  [smiley=shrug.gif]

And I didn't find a midi of Canon in D, but pulled a RealPlay streaming sample of it off of Amazon.  Regardless, it was the wrong part.

But I had the right music and movie, even if I was too gutless to guess it after hearing the sample.

Do we get to find out what thread was the inspiration for #8 and #12?

BTW Bastich, your clue for #8 was just way too easy.  Google search on Film Musical "Mission from God" resulted in a page full of Blues Brothers references.  From there it was just a matter of time.

Well. I never would have thought of doing that song myself, so I wanted someone to be able to guess it. Besides Classical music, my knowledge pretty much ceases to exist prior to the 50s, so I thought it was kind of cool to get one from the 30s in there.

I got the idea from the newcomer introductions thread in the Off-topic section. Someone did a parody of Minnie the Moocher with a Cthulhu theme, hence #8 and #12.

That is why it is important to pay attention to the decade I use and so on. Marilyn Manson did a cover of the song, but it wasn't in the 80s. Likewise, Kravitz didn't write American Woman in the last quiz, but he is the only one to do a popular cover of it in a 90s film...

I got the Blues Brothers reference and listened to every song from the film by the original artist (there's some in the movie that aren't on the soundtrack), and I still didn't get it.

Mr. Roboto has been stuck in my head all week. [smiley=hair_pull.gif]

If I'd only searched the board for "moocher"...

MR ROBOTO!  [smiley=doh.gif]

And I thought it's Rush. I was definitely sure that it must be them, but I listened to everything I have and it wasn't there (obviously).
It was quite similar, though.

Same with Metallica. I thought it MUST be Megadeth, but you don't use the same artist twice in your trivia, right?
I accidentally guessed Call of Kthulu (I'm the only one, yeah!
) when I listened to it by chance!
I love those moments of recognition. Very fulfilling.

I'm very positive that Megadeth "borrowed" a bit from Call of Kthulu for a song of them. Well, the two of them borrowed a LOT from each other...and Metallica from Diamond Head especially.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen could have been guessed, my shame. But I forgot about this trivia...

I REALLY wonder that BJ didn't guess Sweet Dreams. In Mystery Manor it seemed like he knows it in and outside.

I have no rule against using the same artist in these contests.
