But, he also said that they are not going abuse on the character, meaning that they will use her with care so that the gamers will not be sick of her appearing all the time like some kind of mascot

By the way, did anyone else, like me, wanted Oscar to refuse opening his heart? I mean, if you going to build something with the purpose of using it's bodey later on, you're not supposed to give it fillings and the ability to think, are you? Or didn't Soikal read enough SiFi? Azimov, to be exact?

Azimov, to be exact? As an automaton, that's what made him so great; that he had these complicated insides, and all these feelings. It also helped so that he knew what was going on and what needed to be done.

I hoped Kate could convince Oscar to not do it, but I was frozen at the train 'till Oscar reached Hans Silly game. Whatever happened to the insides of Oscar, anyway? He should be full of wheels etc...

I've seen better story-lines proposed by teenage fans on the Syberia site than what he dreamed up.
The graphics however were SUPERB. If it weren't for the crappy story I'd play this game over again just for the fun of the Yokol village.

Yokol Village fun? I lost interest in the game heavily after it reached the Yokol village. That place is so lifeless (read: little hotspots).

I, too, waited a long time for this game, but by the end, I really didn't care what Kate Walker did....I'm pinning all my hopes on TLJ2 now.

But on the whole, I think that even the idea of a sequel totally undermines the idea stated by Syberia's ending, that the journey is more important than the goal - or as Aerosmith put it: "Life's a journey, not a destination".
The only positive thing I can say about Syberia 2 is that it made me appreciate the first game so much more, because I now realize how much worse it COULD have been.

I think, It's very important to think about this things, when you making a sequel (see the Broken Sword line )

I have to say I was dissappointed too. The story line was banal and I could care less about Kate Walker. Maybe I liked Oscar a little more than Hans (probably because he actually helped me out a few times), but really they were so boring. I also found the insessant walking around through "beautiful" scenery annoying. If I want beautiful scenery I'll go outside. When I'm playing a game, I want to *DO* something.
I'll think I'll go dust off my Zork Grand Inquistor and truely enjoy my summer break.

Yes, I can't disagree with the 'bad plot' and 'lots of walking' in any other way that 'yes, but that didn't spoil it for me'. I'm not sure why, I just liked the game, and didn't walk that much altogether for my feelings. I had some trouble connecting to Kate again, but after a few hours the joy was back again. Lots of chicken skin moments - and I cried as Oscar died

Compared to 95% of the games out there - the story was fresh and origonal.
It's the best of the best in my book.

I don't think the story of Syberia (I see them as a *whole* game instead of I & II, because that's exactly what they were) was perfect, but surely it was its strongest point? You have to give it at least some points for originality. FWIW, I think the story had great potential but was perhaps not as exploited as it could have been. I mean, all this trouble in the first part of the game to find Hans and what do you get? A senile old man who hardly ever talked. Ok, I know that was the idea, but I believe that very few players actually cared for him as much as Kate did. Did you notice that he never exchanged a single word with Oscar? As for Oscar's death.. it was a sudden twist for me, I didn't see it coming, a touching moment. I loved the ending to be honest, I gave a small cheer when I saw the mammoths as I half expected them to be long dead for some reason. And yes, Kate is stranded there for life, with all the time in the world to think about what happens to women who abandon their boyfriends for a long time because they care more about their carreer. [smiley=angel_smiley.gif]
Seriously now, I agree that the journey was more important than the destination. But if there will be a Syberia III, I want it to begin with Kate burying Hans and re-constructing Oscar. And PLEASE make it a tad more difficult this time! 2 days of gameplay is just not worth the money. >

But to introduce a theme of career women being punished for dumping their son-of-a-bitch two timing boy friends is a step too far.But you knew that didn`t you.?
