Yes dear Ev.

Elfie, I wonder if you were studying the same little puzzle book that I have here.

And I know that one was easy but I had to mention it because of the references  :

At a restaurant a customer was shocked to find a fly in his coffee. He send the waiter back for a fresh cup. After his first sip, the customer pounded on the table and shouted: "This is the same cup of coffee I had before!" How could he tell?

Hehe. Well, my definition of "child" stretches a bit, but I was always enthusiastic about such things.

I'm going to say he put salt in it, or something like that. I always alter my food before sending it back.

Elf, those old riddle threads are full of holes and balls and whatever other silly references you can think of.

I think he meant to say that he (Grey) is the one to put something in his coffee. Like Jess said, that's close to the real answer. Keeping in mind that we are NOT talking about food, Grey!

Correct you are! But it wasn't the sweetness that bothered him. The man had put sugar in his coffee before he found the fly in it. When he tasted the sugared coffee, he knew it was the same cup.

That's an option as well, I guess
But he could have put, say, 2 teaspoons fo sugar in the cup, and it turned out tasting like 4

Yes, good thinking. At least I would first put sugar inside and then start drinking it.
Maybe not if I found a fly and want to try whether or not this is a new one. But even then I would probably show trust and do the sugaring.

No. I'm saying that I always alter my food or beverages before sending them back. If I send back a burger that's undercooked, I always cut it in half first. Otherwise, they could just slap the old one back on the grill.

If it were coffee, I'd pour salt in it, just to make sure I got a fresh cup.
