When you buy the game, it is presented as a cdrom published by the SKL Networks. They've received this cdrom from the Phoenix and it contains the necesarry hints to find the missing cameraman and his friend (who were abducted by The Phoenix). The network has spread the cdrom so more people can help out in their search for the missing people.
The cdrom contains several puzzles. Each time you solve a bit, you get closer to the truth and receive further information (like these video diaries). A lot of the puzzles will have you surfing around the web, trying to find "vital" information that will help you solve the case.
You will also receive help from other "people" who are trying to solve the case. They will send you emails containing extra information and links to websites.
So there's video, but not in the GK2, Phantasmagoria etc sense of it.

For some reason, from your tone of speaking, I get the immpression you're not too excited about this one (To say the least). Is it so? If yes, why? I think it sounds great, though not waht I thought.

Status : Online | It was somewhat disappointing for me. I don't get a real feel of involvement in the game.
There's two reasons for that: there is no world to explore, there are just puzzles to solve. Also, the switching to mail and webbrowser brings me even further from feeling involved in the game.
It's original though, and I do like it. Just won't be a favorite

I bought and played the game when it was released in Europe.
I had my hopes "up" for the game, it sounded as if it was something different. Using the web and so on. But the game was a big dissapointment at least to me.
All the "small games" in the game (that sounded odd) anyway, all those games with no connection to the actual plot just got boring.
Cheers [smiley=beer_buds.gif]

It has some big problems, but it's still infinitely more creative than any recent adventure. Well worth playing just because it's so different from the usual adventures we've been getting these days. Very good to see it's coming to the US!

Yup, occasionally we Europeans get to play a game before the Americans do It's called In Memoriam here though, for some reason they decided to change the title.
Maybe they thought it wasn't flashy enough and won't attract attention (what I really mean ofcourse is that they think the title is too difficult and won't appeal )

That online game included emails, instant messages, "live" telephone calls and searching in the web for info, is that an accurate assumption on my part? Majestic was pretty good to start with, maybe because of the novelty of it, but then faded quickly. I think that this format would be very interesting for a game, but I'm guessing that it's cost prohibitive.... I'd still like to see some one else give that type of game format another go!

Status : Online | If I remember, one of the tag lines for Majestic was "the game that plays you." There were some nice parts but too much waiting around for the next segment. I heard that there was a game within the game but unsubscribed after a few months for personal reasons.
In Memoriam has some similarities but it's a fully contained game. Like SCiV I found the lack of explorable gameworld underwhelming. Characterization was weak, mostly it was a series of 2D arcade puzzles, Googling for websites as part of the puzzling and some rather uninspired film clips. Parts were fun but overall I didn't think it amounted to much. Others lilked it a lot though, so definitely read as many reviews as you can.
I just got a questionaire from the devs today asking if I had tried to get a hold of the characters, possibily implying that the game had been expanded...

| Deleted User | Strangely enough, a store near me is still selling copies of Majestic for approximately $60. Seems a lot for a several years-old game which is likely unplayable now without the online component. In Memoriam/Missing seems really cool though.
