I wasn't talking about violence. When I say action, I mean anything besides your average inventory puzzles, conversational puzzles or manipulating a device puzzles. It could be about having to run somewhere to get there in time, to climb something in an intelligent way or being quiet so you don't disturb someone.
I also have never really had to resort to violence, except in sport and among my brothers.
I wasn't referring to just violence either. That is why I mentioned sports. I also don't climb, sneak or run in the real world. Not since my days as a jewel thief anyway...
I was just pointing out that a puzzle is no more unrealistic than any of those other things in the context of a normal person's life, hence your comment about puzzles not being realistic is a very biased one as you don't hold the same standard to the other conventions you bring up. You might as well complain about the fact that the characters couldn't possibly carry the amount of stuff they do in adventures also...

j/k
Or am I? ???
@Elf - you are forgiven. No probs, I understand. I can see a lot of points, valid ones, both negative and positive in this thread.
One things for sure, I get the feeling that Ragnar is going for a real "gamers game" with this one. It might not appeal to all, but those who play it (hopefully) will love it, sorta like Giants or Sacrifice but in an adventurey stylee.
BTW After TLJ I have no doubt there'll be some creative puzzles. I think some may have forgotten where Ragnar came from on that front.

Saving is possible at almost any time (that means you can't save while a cutscene is running and I could imagine that there are some arcade-like sequences that keep you from saving, but that's speculation). The save-points are the equivalent to automatic saving, nothing more, nothing less.
He explicitly states that you won't die by falling off a cliff, getting hit by a rock, squashed in a trap and so on. I believe you will die in a fight or because of a wrong decision (which seems to render it pointless to die anyway, but let's see how this will be handled).
Rest assured that there won't be only action-sequences but a lot of confrontation on a general scale. He keeps talking about this. You will be able to avoid most confrontation, but it still remains a part of the game.

Status : Online | I don't know. Reading Ragnar's interviews about Dreamfall is making me feel like Homer Simpson in one of those 'Treehouse of Horror' episodes:
"reamfall will be an adventure game..." That's good!
"...but action will feature heavily." That's bad.
"But 'action' does not necessarily mean 'combat'..." That's good.
"...although combat will definitely be included." That's bad.
"However, you may be able to avoid fighting..." That's good.
"...by sneaking around." That's bad.
"Or by solving a puzzle..." That's good.
"...although that will depend which character you're playing." That's bad...

@wakane That rumor about kungfu was officially denied by Ragnar Tornquist. There will be fighting, but no kungfu moves. I'm not sure why that makes much of a difference, though.
Thanks, Elfstone.
Just to clear things up. I don't have anything against kungfu and all and I believe Dreamfall could be a good game, if not great. It's just maybe not in the term of adventure games as we know it.

Almost seems like a standard PR-marketing way of describing heavy change in adventure gameplay without scaring away the "pure adventure" gamers.
You know the standard formula : <pro-adventure feature here>, but <not pro-adventure feature here>
Anyway, as long as the game is enjoyable and fun

However, lately, I've been expanding my horizons, and I'm more than happy to see this game being worked in the way it's being worked.
I'm sure that as long as the story keeps the same quality of the first one, I'll be satisfied.
I recently played Beyond Good & Evil, and I have to say it renewed my Faith in the action-adventure genre. It's all in the way on how you do stuff.
Kudos to that. And to Xenosaga, which I also finished recently.
Now, if I could only get my hands on Syberia 2...
