I don't think that was from them. It's a direct quote from UK's PC Gamer magazine (where they scanned the piccies from)
PC Gamer like most gaming mags has a one track view of adventures ie there dead.
Just look at the latest issue they previewed Dreamfall with that quote then reviewed 2 adventures in the magazine and gave them
Journey to the Centre of the Earth (49%) - Advises to play game witht the walkthrough (even includes it on disc) and calls it a passable adventure just about wrecked
Schizm II (14%) - Calls it the gaming equivalent of what you find in your hanky after a wet sneeze. and says it just a series of unexplained, unsatisfying, unorigional, unpointful puzzles.
So as you can see adventures not high on their list of games.

The screenshots actually look less action-oriented than I expected. At least, not to the extent of the old full throttle 2 screenshots

Focusing on story and characters, Dreamfall features "unparalleled 3D visuals, advanced character animations, stunning audio, and innovative gameplay — wrapped in a unique and magical ambience".
"In Dreamfall, we are expanding the scope of the adventure genre to include action elements that will allow us to tell an even more involving, exciting, and surprising story."

Yeah, this might be an overstatement, but nevertheless, together with Project Jane-J, Dreamfall is my most anticipated adventure game at the moment. Those screen shots look great! This might be the game that will finally convince me to buy a new computer.

You can't really judge the final quality from these screens. After all, they're just scans from a magazine.

Status : Online | Great shots. I like the look of the main character. She looks younger than April.. Like 12 or 13...
Anyone know if this is point-n-click? I don't see a cursor.. direct control would be cool too, though.

Status : Online | The Journeyman Inn (name of the familiar location) looks nice in the snow. But...the quote on it's picture is peculiar:'point and clickers need this game'. But Dreamfall is going to be direct control for all the action elements...blar. Also, the main character looks REALLY like April in the first screenshot, I hoped they would change the oh too familiar 'brown haired skinny girl' thing. oh well.
Also, there was a rumor that this game will have more than one character. I guess that rumor's over now? Or maybe it's a surprise/plot twist that they aren't allowed to tell us? It'll be nice to play as April again.

But I agree.. Nico Collard, Kate Walker, April Ryan, Gina, the girl from Center of the Earth, this one.. they're all blending into the Generic Skinny Brunette (tm). Give us some blondes! Or redheads...

I don't care if the graphics look like Leisure Suit Larry... the story telling is DEFINITELY different from other games. A bit winded at times, but if you like reading books it doesn't matter.

Status : Offline | Quote from screenshots: "The weight of an entire genre rests on Dreamfall's shoulders" (I corrected the grammar... ) A genre rests in the hands of... the consumers. Sad, but true. If there were 1/3rd as many people buying FPS games (first person shooters) or MMO games (massively multiplayer online) then the "adventure genre" wouldn't be in danger of extinction.
The Longest Journey, Sibera.. or even the upcoming Leisure Suit Larry, could stink.. it won't end the genre. But it could lessen the amount of companies making them if a game bombs and the company drops out of the genre (i.e. Lucas Arts). Again.. root of the evil? The consumer.
Personally i don't believe that the quality of the game will draw out people that simply aren't into the adventure-only genre. Revolution realizes that.. which is why some action found it's way into the Broken Sword series. Plus it allows them to advertise in more than one genre.

Need a redhead? Let me introduce you to Laura Bow ... if you don't already know her.
Need a blond? Then Rosella of Daventry is your woman! Both have been around for quite some time, but they've only gotten better with age.

That's pretty close to the truth on Schizm II and as far as Journey to the Center of the Earth, I liked it a lot but I can see where other adventure gamers might not.
