That's what I love about adventure games!
*The attention to detail is just amazing! It makes 3D worlds look blah.
That's for sure. I wounder if it will run on Xp though. I thought it was a little like Indianna Jones, Fate of Atlantis. I a lot of ways it was even better, I thought. It is still one of my favorite games. I love games that don't require me to get a walkthrough.

It is a dos game and if you haven't set up your Mouse driver, Sound drivers, and Cd-rom drivers in dos then it won't run. Usually if the game freezes it is because your dos sound drivers are not set up right.
Don't install it from windows. Go to Start/ Restart in dos and then install the game. If you have SBlive you may have to get dos drivers for it as some of them didn't come with all the drivers. You can look in (Dosstart.bat) in windows and see what is called up when you exit windows to dos.

You already finished a notoriously hard game like Master Lu in... what, less than a week?! You would be a worthy contestant in Aya's Spring Journey, Romnut.  Yeah, he's paying me to say that... ) At that rate, you'll run out of quality games to play in no time.

I enjoyed the game, but I must admit; I found it rather difficult

There are quite a few games that I would never have finished without a walkthrough. And by never I don't mean "given enough time, lots of paper, perseverance and hard work", I mean NEVER. The Feeble Files, Discworld, Black Dahlia, Schizm, Tony Tough and many others had puzzles that were simply too hard for me.
But it's a fact that the stack of unplayed games will shrink incredibly fast when you use a WT. One day you wake up and there's only garbage left to play. I'm not looking forward to that day. My stack is still high (75), but my list of Wanted Games (20-25) is getting shorter and shorter.

Status : Online | I"m having such a glorious time playing the old-school adventures for the first time now that I have SCUMMMVM and DOSBOX. I hate to think of of the day when I run out of these games. I have been diligently watching EBAY in order to acquire many of these treasures. They have so much more of everything than the games today.

Just look under the SCUMMVM VO. 6.0 thread on page 4 of Adventure Discussion. Both DJ Souza and Rpau gave me the steps to install games on DOSBOX.
It worked like a charm for me since I had never used any DOS before. But note, you still have to adjust CPU cycles and frame skip with the buttons that they mention in order to get the sound and gameplay running well. For me this was 8,000 CPU cycles and frame skip 10. I'm sure it varies on every computer. I ran this on XP Pro under DOXBOX.
Hope you get this going! I had so much fun with this game-the way Broken Sword 3 should have been.

Then, I remember the Diamond Ace wall paper...
I have to play it again. Only problem: I can't find it any more! It's gone! I can't remember giving it to somebody, but I certainly did at some time. Same with Discworld 2. It's gone and I don't have a clue where I put it. :-/

Status : Offline | Hmmm. After having written  lost count here - - ) walkthroughs - maybe I should fire up MasterLu and write one.
This was one of the first games I ever played, and a nice gamer called Floridagal helped me set the setup parameters so it would work.
Now, I'm using XP, so anything goes. I hope it will play without a lot of research. I do remember it was fun, long, cleverly conceived, and not hard, as long as you try silly stuff now and then.
Will keep you posted - - -

But not too smoothly. And the sound doesn´t work yet.
I want to play the game on an AMD-K6-2 500 ESS 1938 3D SOUND CARD
these are my current settings:
CPU CYCLES: ~ 6000 FRAMESKIP: 10
What do you suggest ?

Status : Online | Kurt, regarding Riddle of Masterlu. maybe it's a sound card problem. I have Soundblaster Live 5.1. I set the the midi to 330 and the other settings to plain Soundbaster 220 7 1 4.
The sound was choppy unless I was at between 8000 to 10,000 CPU cycles.
Then the sound was good-not perfect.
Good luck! It's a really good game all the way to the end.

Sigh, don't remind me. That niggling little fact is always at the back of mind when it comes to adventures. I have a habit of looking at what I've played and finding it depressing that I have no more Gabriel Knight games to look forward to, or another Grim Fandango or Neverhood game to play, etc. And there's nearly nothing being produced today that I've found intriguing as the games I've mentioned.
On the brighter side, I still have a lot of older games I haven't played yet, like, well, Riddle of Master Lu!
