There's a nice game on this site called Quiddler.
There are 16 cards on 8 stacks (that means a front and a back deck). You have to clear those by constructing words. There are some special like TH, IN, ER, CL and QU sometimes. Get the highest score possible. It's somewhat pointless to get it, because most of the time the top ten is crowded already by the time I get there (different time zone) and anyways...it's much too hard for me.

I thought we could start a little daily game. Maybe not every day, but on a regular basis.
Rules: Find words from these cards with at least 6 letters.
You can click "Today's School Worksheet"  below the cards to see which cards are in the back deck.
Maybe we will reduce it to at least 7 letters, but it usually isn't that easy.
Don't use an anagram engine! That's just boring.

It would be best if you come up with longest words possible or hard words. Like those involving a Q without a U (there seem to be very few of those). Doesn't apply this time, but you get the point.

If you reach the daily high score feel free to post your winning words.

For starters, I post a list of words I found. I spent quite a lot of time today, so it might be a bit too much (keep in mind it's rather easy today):

depart
detail
dialer
jitter
lapdog
latter
letter
litter
opiate
petrol
pirate
polite
portal
pitter
potter
raptor
retail
tailor
teapot
topdog

8 letters
agitator, depilate, derogate, eradiate, gladiate, jittered, parietal, portaged, predated, toroidal, tripedal

I didn't bother with 6 letter words, there are just way too many. I only listed words you didn't have on your list.

Yes, like I said, 6 may be too much this time. It's usually much harder.
Out of interest, how many words with Q but no U can anyone name? The Q can be anywhere in the word, but it must not be followed by U.

Amazing!
I figured out "qat" by accident.

And I knew "suq". But that's it.

Ok, technically those could work, too:
req
deq
seq
ceq

But they are not accepted.
Whatever, the database of that game isn't perfect.
When I started going there I could have built "Xanadu", but it won't accept it. Maybe cause it's sort of a title, but it isn't really. It's in the dictionaries. Defined as an expression.

Deleted UserXanadu is a proper noun, no matter its usage.  Perhaps that's why it isn't accepted?

I guess. But there are some other common words missing I think. Can't remember them right now.
However, it accepts "daikering" for instance.
Never heard that before and it's hard to find.
Seems to be a Scottish word.

I think there is a Q word that is spelled either Qiviut or Qivuit. I think it is the former. Outside of Scrabble you will also find  the word Qi.

Solution from yesterday:
galop - joe - teratoid = 82 points

The longest words possible (not neccessarily in the game):
10 letters
petiolated
retaliated
proglottid (that's a nice word
)
tetraploid

Here are my quick results from the new one (it's even easier I think, but highscore is hard as ever):

6 letters
artery
aweary
lawyer
mantel
salary
savery
sawtry
steamy
vestry
wyvern

7 letters
lawyers
mantels
mastery
smarter
wyverns

8 letters
masterly
remaster
streamer

I checked the list with an anagram engine. It's huge. I've done poorly, but it's harder for me, naturally.
There is a single longest word today, at least as listed.

I don't actually play the Quiddler game. I don't surf the web with Java, Javascript, or any plugins, so the games are usually off-limits for me. I just try to find any words from the letters that you didn't. The more you get, the harder it potentially is for me. It is still fun though. My results for today:

7 letters
abstain, aqueous, baroque, bastion, bemoans, bequest, boaster, clamber, cliques, closure, equates, equator, ermines, esquire, manacle, marinas, marquee, minutes, minutia, monster, numbers, quantum, querist, quorums, reclaim, request, sequent, timbers, treacle, tribune

8 letters
banister, barnacle, boutique, clambers, equators, manacles, marinate, marquees, minister, minotaur, minutiae, monsieur, numerate, obstacle, quatrain, reclaims, ruminate, sclerite, sequitur, treacles, tribunes

9 letters
abstainer, barnacles, boutiques, marinates, minotaurs, numerates, obsequent, quatrains, ruminates

10 letters
equestrian, squamation, tabernacle

11 letters
reclamation, tabernacles

12 letters
reclamations

I have to make it harder for you, after all you are a native speaker and I'm not.

But today was probably easier than ever like the results show.

Cliqueiest? ??? They have to be kidding. I just went and looked it up in several dictionaries and they don't list it. That has to be improper usage. Well, no matter...

Today was harder for me. I had to use 6 letter words to pad my post

6 letters

Look for "cliquey" in dictionary.com, it exists.
It's rather odd, however.

But considering that form exists, the usage should be legit.

Yesterday's solution:
nth - fan - dry - victims
Pretty doable this time. Well, "nth" is one of the Quiddler things you just should know about. (short word list).

Longest words (10 letters)
antichrist (on Easter Monday...
)
dynamistic
ministrant (is there a theme here?)

Today:
Highscore is 117, that's all letters (97 points) plus an eight-letter-word bonus of +20 I'd say. I still haven't figured out what that "cut-off line" (107 today) might be.
My score: 109 (for the first time in the Top Ten right now)

-6 letters-
intern
rather
rotund
tinder
tinker
tundra
winner
winter
wonder
worker

-7 letters-
drinker
thinker
thrower
tracker
trucker

-8 letters-
intruder

-10 letters-
introducer

Quite poor work today, can't think straight.

Sorry, I couldn't keep up with it during the last days.
Had to write an exam. Dumped it anyway.

I thought that someone else could proceed if I'm not there, but obviously that's not possible because
a) they might think that if they post the solution because they think I won't do it I might all of a sudden return and get angry or something  :

b) this thread sucks and noone cares

Today:

-6 letters-
caller
cereal
clever
cradle
leader
neadle
neater
reveal
taller
tavern
tender
thrall
threat
travel
treaty
vernal
zenith

-7 letters-
cleaner
cleaver
cruelty
cyanide
enclave
leather
neutral
thunder
veteran

-8 letters-
Daventry (ok, that doesn't count)
threaten

I happen to know the longest words in the last one we played:
introducer
cordwainer
