Awrighty, I'm now trying to play Sam & Max for a little while. But, like all the games I have, it seems to want to make me have a nervous breakdown

I can't configure the sound drivers for it in windows, it won't load the config program. While in DOS, it won't recodnise the cd drive at all. So, I need a way to configure the sound for it without actually using the sound config file on the disk. Or something. I want my talkie cd!  :'(

Deleted UserNot sure to remember correctly, but that happened to me. Humm... played it under windows but with adLib sound card checked in the game config.
I recall doing this a lot with older games althrough using a soundblaster. For sound only, not for music (if it applies), or maybe not. Isssh! sorry I can't help more  :-/

Deleted UserI do remember things correctly because it was only a month ago I first got the sound working, the thing is that you have to setup the game in pure dos mode. I haven't tried to play the game in Win after setting it up in Dos, it might work.

I've gotten sound and speech in Sam & Max in W 98 by using the ScummVM (http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/) together with the Quick & Easy interface (http://quick.mixnmojo.com/). Haven't played the game through yet but so far it works. And it supports many of the other old LucasArts games as well.

It was my understanding that Sam & Max wasn't 100% supported by the interface yet -- has this changed?

There's a compatibility list at the ScummVM site, and Sam & Max is said to be 93 % compatible, or "no major problems, you should be able to play it to the end". And there seem to be a new version in the pipeline. Btw, I use the version downloaded through the "Win32 daily snapshot" link and not the older 0.2.0 build. In the readme file to the newer "experimental" version, Sam & Max is reported to be working. The only problem I've had so far is that I cannot start the game directly from the Q & E interface. I have to use the "create shortcut" to start the game.
