Deleted UserHaving gotten well and truly in the mood for some adventuring after cruising the JA Forums, I decided to visit some of the Local PC shops in my area. To my dismay, I found the X-Box, PS2 and GameCube shelves brim to overflowing and having grown to such proportions that the PC CDROM software shelves seemed somewhat hidden in the corner and extremely small by comparison. Its as if PC gaming has become one of the "darker" pastimes that needs to be stashed away and access to it only granted via a nudge and a wink. Of course no manner of winking or nudging granted me access to a hidden vault filled to the brim with PC software. Nope, what I saw was it. Pathetic.

Alas, there is absolutely next to no adventure software whatsoever. Even the small PC shelves have been filled with every permutation of and combination of "The Sims".

There isn't even any bargain bins to sift through!

Leaving thoroughly dissapointed, I decided to try some on-line shops based in Australia. Well, yet again, the available selection of adventure games was pathetic to say the least.

Has anyone in the Melbourne area got any suggestions on how to actually purchase some decent adventure software without having to resort to overseas (which is sometimes geographically restricted) on-line sales?

Thanx

Deleted UserCheck out this Western Australian site that does Adventure Games reviews, news etc.  Under "Buying Games" they have a good list of Aussie site links for buying games online.

I think the state of local PC shops here on the Gold Coast is probably even worse than Melbourne.

Haven't been reading posts for many weeks and only just read this one.   Many thanks to you Janelle for posting the reply to Bazza.   I haven't had a chance to really check out  the site you mentioned properly yet, but have certainly added to my "favourites" list for future reference.

Quandaryland is a great site, but I never looked at their links of where to buy games online.  Great links, for Australia and New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom, and United States!

Yep! Quandaryland.com is definitely a good place for reviews and other stuff.  I definitely recommend this site for quality reviews along with Just Adventure+! Have fun in your new hobby!

Don't know about Australia, but I've lived in New Zealand for about a year. I was disappointed by the number of adventure games in the Gameshops, but I managed to pick up a number of excellent games from the Warehouse (Grim Fandango, Discworld Noir, Gabriel Knight 3) at bargain prices!

Perhaps there are games for sale at non-gameshops in Melbourne, too?
Beta-tester of 'The Path', 'Rhiannon', 'Scratches', 'Hope Springs Eternal', 'Time Stand Still', 'Frasse and the Peas of Kejick', '1893: A World's Fair Mystery', 'Carte Blanche' and 'Oakhaven Plantation' a.o.&&

Hi Bazza
You are right. I am from Melbourne too. Which games are you after?  You could borrow some games from the library, or rent them?

Deleted UserI think the situation is the same in other countries. I live in Canada and the situation is the same- limited selection of adventure games, console games lining the walls, and no bargain bins. And since I have my doubts about the security of online shopping it is difficult to find older adventure games. I bet things are better in the US
