How about the parrot in The Case of the Rose Tattoo that kept saying "Merde!"

It was a good game, and it certainly is one of my favorites (and keep Fickfack away from this message
).

Too late.
The wait every time you use a lift refers to the fact that riding in an elevator triggers a cutscene which is approximately two minutes long. In Andrew Plotkin's review (http://www.eblong.com/zarf/gamerev/stitanic.html)he mentions bringing a book specifically for reading during the elevator rides. He also mentions being able to get up and get a snack from the fridge before the ride was over.
The interface was terrible, and the parser was worse than in 1980's games, and the puzzles were a nonsensical, poorly clued mess. Oh, and the robots aren't very funny even when you can get them to respond to what you typed.
And Romnut is a she.
But other than that, I agree with your estimation of Starship Titanic. Greatest game ever.  :

so its been two years ago since i made this life changing thread. it only seems like two years ago i made it
Its boring, there isn't any action at all. You walk around picking up things and using them with other items. You walk around and use the item on something. Walking around and talking to people is really lame, what about some shooting or something~APuddleduck&&

There's a parrot in QG5, in the Dead Parrot Inn.  The stupid thing mocks you when you lose the dagger throwing game.  And you can throw daggers at the parrot, too.  Which is a great deal of fun.

Rather odd, since my longest ride took less as 30 seconds. That was from top of the well, to the bottom of the well, which is the farthest you can go.

What's to say? Was-not? Never had trouble with it.

Wouldn't know that (never played in the '80's), but it worked. Not too splendid, but it did work.

I didn't figure out the chevrons until halfway through the game. Maybe I'm just dumb.

For one puzzle, you have to get the BellBot to unscrew a broken lamp. It will only accept one possible syntax for this sentence. If the parser won't allow you to construct simple sentences in more than one way, then it's ridiculous to try to carry out realistic conversations with it. Ruins any sense of immersion you might have had. Might as well just go with the dialogue trees.

Tickling the nose of the succubus, setting the weather to spring to make the light fixture sneeze, the greasy chicken, the poke with long stick button. Other times I knew what I wanted the game to do and couldn't make it happen. The entire game was like that.

Deleted UserAfter H2G2 and having read the ST book before I played the game, the game was exactly what I expected.  True, I found myself running to UHS more often than usual, but I had no problems with the silly (il)logic of ST.

I just found a video tape that came with my ST and it's never been played. I will have to load it up and se what's on it.

Yeah, that is one bad example then. I'll agree with you on that point. But it did work for a great deal in other conversations though.

Not too good explained, true, but there were clues about this in the talking lines with the succ-u-bus.

Aye, I'll give you that though... it was a bit strange. Might've been the clue that you saw some -English word, things flowers spread- coming from the flowers. Wasn't too obvious, rather a you-see-the-Parrot-in-spring-at-some-time thing.

Are you referring to the puzzle how to transparot the chicken through the succ-u-bus system? That was so logical
- succ-u-bus doesn't like sauces.

Oh right, if it says something concerning 'long stick' another type of stick wouldn't work.

I had that trouble with Riven you know?

Oh, here is somebody who did like the game (since you threw a review at me): http://www.avault.com/reviews/review_temp.asp?game=sst&page=1

Now let's see...there was a parrot in The Colonel's Bequest who said cryptic things whenever it was given a cracker...there were also several parrots (macaws, cockatoos) in KQ4 (on Genesta's island).

Oh yeah. And those New Zealand Keas eat sheep.

There's a parrot in the old IF game Pirate Adventure.  Odd that, finding a parrot in a pirate-related game.  Anyway, it must be one vicious parrot considering how it's used in the game.

First adventure game I ever finished, way back in the day (a couple of decades ago).  Ah, the memories.

Or go fishing. - MI2 &&Okay.   - Me
