Topic: Noisy CD-rom

Deleted UserNoisy noisy CD-rom. My drive is doing a terrible amount of sound when I put in a CD or when, during gameplay, the game need CD data after a certain time. Also having a relatively large chance of freezing cutscenes during those first access or stuttering sounded cutscenes.

This must be avoidable by changing the drive cache etc. but I don't have the courage to try every settings possibles. Note: when I installed my GeForce4mx I found necessary to uncheck the DMA setting on my CD-rom drive. If checked, long installations freeze.

Any ideas?

I use Nero Drivespeed myself. With this little free application you can set the speed of your drive to work better with old games and as a bonus spin up times and noise are drastically reduced. More info and download here:
