All 3rd person adventure games feature quickly changing camera angles...whether they be point & click or direct control...or prerendered or realtime. I don't see the difference betreen the implementation of the two, although I understand some people's complaints when action sequences are involved. I don't understand during the tried and true exploring/pixel hunting sections, though.
Just in case there was any doubt, my complaint was restricted solely to rapid camera angle switching right in the middle of action sequences. It is disorienting and it disrupts the player's timing at the worst possible moment when they need to execute quick, precise controls in tight, timed segments. It's fine for logically placed, in-game transition scenes or cut scenes for dramatic effect. It's also okay in non-timed / non-action scenes where the player doesn't pay a penalty. But that is not what we are talking about here.
As a footnote, I don't mind free floating camera options that control things like angle and zoom. Nor do I dislike optional first to third person camera views. But those are used at the discretion of each player and can be adjusted according to individual preference. Besides, most games that offer those control options also have settings for locked-down views. So it is entirely your choice whether to even use them or not.
Cheers, Terry

Important info: Caroline lives in Australia where $70 compares to something like $45-50US or something like that (very rough calculation).

The future ain't what it used to be!

The graphics, plot and characters are great. The controls are fine, but I had no trouble with GF either, maybe its because I use a gamepad.
My only problem with BS3 was that there were to many crate puzzles.

What? No way? IMO BS2 + BS1 were way better, largely because of the point & click interface. For some reason I couldn't empathise with the main characters the way I could with the first 2 games - I do agree with the crate puzzles though - they were really annoying :
As far as I am concerned GK3 would have been better if it had employed a similar control system to GK3

Yes, the control system in GK3 ruled while the control system in GK3 was just plain bad.

happy trails,

| Deleted User | Hi, I've just finished it.
Great adventure. fun characters, nice puzzles (ok a little easy except for the 'bottle'puzzle. Had to find the answer on www) nice story, liked the humour.
Interface was very ok: when you install a joypad properly using all 10 buttons, then it's near perfect to play.
I give this game a 'B+'
See ya.

Any game that deals with realistic or even semi realistic decisions needs the input that only a mouse can give. Keyboard controls were used for many years before they had a decent pointing device but now that we do they seem to want to go back to the dark ages. It's almost like the good old days when we didn't even have a keyboard and all we had was a row of buttons to put in a binary code.

I can't remember much about the plot or puzzles of BS3 now, but I do remember it being awesome fun, as all the broken sword games were. I was concerned when cartoony 2D games like the first BS and the earlier lucas arts games would go 3D but once they did, it was fine. I have no complaints about BS3 at all.
I wil now raise a toast ( in the form of clapping) to the upcoming BS4! [smiley=clap.gif]

Status : Online | Yup, yup....I am a fan of the ENTIRE Broken Sword series and I absolutely LOVED BS3!!
It always makes me sad to see yet another person that downright hated it.
To be honest though, I wonder if some people just didn't like it because they don't like CHANGE. You know, some folks just DON'T like change...period.
I loved that it was new, fresh, different for the series, and the controls did not bother me a BIT after like 10 minutes. Admittedly, I don't have much trouble with keyboard controls or any other kind of control adjustment, due to the fact I play games of every genre. I do think that helps.
I just cannot WAIT for BS4!!!!! WOOHOOO!!
I also noticed a post complaining that the game to follow TLJ is basically, "gonna suck." I predict that most of the people that hated the changes in BS3 will also hate that game, but I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Change can be stressful or exciting....a lot of that is simply in one's perception.
Presently playing Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft obsessively....as well as any other good games that appear on the horizon. I love all genres!

No, I didn't like it because the controls were clumsy and the action sequences were poorly conceived. Add to that a ho-hum plot and an absurd quantity of repetitive crate puzzles and it just seemed like there was a lot more to dislike than to like.
I have no problem with hybrids, and I'm a big fan of action games. Beyond Good & Evil was great and I'm now playing Painkiller.
