Status : Online | I have the same problem. Sound in the game is noisy, mp3s/wavs in the data directories are crystal clear.
What sound card do you have? I have an old SB AWE64 which I suspect might be causing it. Not because the card is bad but possibly because it doesn't support 48kHz sampling rates and there is some poor downsampling code somewhere. But that's just a wild guess.
I don't even know if it's something specific to Microids games, it could be a DirectSound problem for all I know.

I've got SB LIve! and only experienced this background noise in Syberia and Post Mortem demo. In NOLF 2 where sound is also compressed to mp3, there were no such problems to my knoledge...
