edit: The covers weren't as easy to guess as I expected, so here's a 1.5 second (65kb) audio clip from each album. Artist and song title will be good enough. The number of the file corresponds to the number of the cover below.
---

I guess 1/3 isn't too bad considering this wasn't an easy one. Answers below.

http://madrabbit.net/temp/01.wav
Vixen - Self Titled - "Edge of a Broken Heart" (Elfstone)
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/05.wav
Y & T - Down for the Count - "Summertime Girls"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/06.wav
Focus - Moving Waves - "Hocus Pocus"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/07.wav
Donnie Iris - Back on the Streets - "Ah! Leah!" (BacardiJim)
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/08.wav
Alias - Self Titled - "More Than Words Can Say"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/09.wav
Taxxi - States of Emergency - "I'm Leaving"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/10.wav
Point Blank - American Exce$$ - "Nicole"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/11.wav
The Sherbs - The Skill - "No Turning Back"
-
http://madrabbit.net/temp/12.wav
Martin Briley - One Night With a Stranger - "Salt in My Tears"

Correctly Guessed Covers:
2. Ram Jam - Self Titled - "Black Betty" (BacardiJim)
3. Timbuk 3 - Greetings From Timbuk 3 - "The Future's So Bright..." (BacardiJim)
4. Autograph - Sign In Please - "Turn Up The Radio" (BacardiJim)

I honestly don't have the first idea about any of them, but I will say that 12 is brilliant image. Look forward to finding out what that is....

Correct on 3 and 4. The positioning was purely coincidental.

man that's a very tough one! the only one that "kinda rings a bell" is #5 :

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

There's some strange white rectangle in #5...covering up something or is that original?  :

It's a promotional sticker that says "Includes the hit single..."

I scanned that one a long time ago to use with my mp3 player. The sticker didn't cover anything significant and I didn't want to ruin the cover by trying to remove it.

If it helps any, I ordered them from easiest to hardest - at least in my opinion.

Seems like it's a bit on the hard side.

Or maybe it's just that Val isn't available at the moment.

Aya doesn't even know a single one of those. Cool.

Yeah! I've been gone! Yes that's it!

I've never seen one of these album covers.

However, play me some samples of the songs and I'll sweep the rest of you under the rug!

Yeah, I should've made it a little easier, but I saw how quickly everyone guessed the covers in the other quizzes and I thought this one might go the same way with all the experts here.

I suppose I'll just go ahead and post the answers and congratulate BacardiJim for getting three of 'em.

What the heck. It might be the only enjoyment anyone gets from this quiz.

It's easy enough to do since all the tunes are already on my hard drive.

I'll post the audio links up in the main post.

Ok, I suck. After one listen to each of these, the only one I knew was Leah. A couple sound familiar but I can't place them. Maybe longer sound clips? (you can't please us!
)

The first song sounds like Heart but that wouldn't be a one hit wonder and the last sounds like Sammy Hagar but that wouldn't be obscure either. This is what I get for opening my big mouth! :

Of course, that's probably because it's so warm and cozy under this rug under which Val swept me.

Nope!

Enjoyed listening to the clips though... very keen to know some of the answers now...

Judging by the other cover quizzes, you guys definitely know your Classic Rock. #6 and #10 fit that category, and are still played on rock radio stations today.

#1 and #5 are both from the "hair metal" scene of the mid to late 80's - much like #4 (Autograph).

#8 peaked at number two on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1990.

#9, #11 and #12 are early 80's and the only ones that might be considered obscure. The #11 band was much more popular in Australia and Tina Turner covered on the of the songs on that album (not the song posted).

As often the case, most songs seem familiar.
5, 8, 9 especially. And I'm certain I've seen the cover of #11.

#9 doesn't let me go...I heard this one, I'm sure!

#1 is Vixen - Vixen
Edge of a broken heart.
Hey, you changed the cover.

There's "Vixen" written on the block. Maybe that's not for every cover.
