For those of you who don't do cryptics: "Floaters" was the "direct," or definition of the word being clued. Terra Firma = "land" Land is involved with "small" (abbreviated) "orbital marvel." The orbital marvel was a clue to the International Space Station, abbreviated ISS. Land involved with ISS gives you IS(land)S.
