Gabriel Knight still my favourite adventure game so logic would dictate that character made the best impact on me, as well as the game play of course.

I know this doesn't really count, but... the narrator from Quest for Glory IV (CD version). Gimli!!!!

As for my favorite normal character... that's just too hard. The entire cast of QFG4 and 5. Perhaps my favorite is Salim the apothecary. He always made me feel welcome. Also, Rakeesh. Tex Murphy and Gabriel Knight are nice, but then, I think I like Leshy from QFG4 even more... nah, this is impossible. The only one I can really name my favorite is the narrator from QFG4.
Another QFG fanatic!! Well mine will be (Since I don't know what Tex Murphy is, Sam the bagger from QFG1. Just kidding. Grace Nakimura, and Simon.

Rincewind!!! Gees, that you guys didn't think of that! Shame on you, shame on you!!!

"So ahhh, Rinsiwind, now we need to..."
"Actually it's Rincewind sir"
"What? Yes, yes, Rinsiwind, fine by me. We need to have theese 5 sacret relics."
"I have the strange feeling that I'm going to be the one who does all the work..."

"Look, why don't I come out and play the game, and YOU go in and face all the peril!"

Rincewind is on the second post in this thread.

I gotta play one of the Tex Murphy games. Which one is the best? Considering I like FMV best, comic style artwork second best, Sierra type painted art and prerendered 3rd and realtime 3D last?

Roger Wilco for sci-fi bumbling hero goodness,

and

Freddy Pharkas. He's quite an interesting character, especially for one from the mind of the creator of Larry Laffer. What's even funnier is that he has this really powerful, manly, western-hero voice, and in the really hilarious outtakes after the game, he suddenly starts talking like a complete wuss. ("This is RIDICULOUS! I swear, I will SUE if something goes wrong! This is what happened to Margaret Hamilton, you know!"

hmmmmmm ok I don't have a single one so I'll just list them off from *I'm obsessed with him/her" to  "I just love this character"

1) LaraCroft (guys I know the last TR game wasn't so good, but  TR  was one of the 1-st games where a GIRL could kick ass, and that game will always be in a game history)
2)Edward Carnby - Alone in the dark hottie

3)George and Nico of course!
4) BEN!!!- ful lthrottle
5) April Ryan
6)Larry Laffer
7) BloodRayne(action/adv)
Aline Cedrac- alone in the dark the new nightmare

***MILD GRIM FANDANGO SPOIlERS***

1) The coroner from Grim Fandango... It may sound odd, but when Manny asks if he can help him, and he says "just hold that leaf for me" and manny just stands there, and after 10 seconds manny says "I can't do it" and the coroner says "I know"... I'll never be able to forget that. It's such an insignificant part of the game, but for me, the most striking dialogue of any game I've ever played. And for that, the coroner gets my #1 pick.

***END GF SPOILERS***

2) Gabriel Knight from GK1 just because he's not a vanilla character. He has an edge to him.

3) Abnaxus (sp?) Venar of TLJ. He's got some cool dialogue.

Honorable Mention:
Stauf from T7G!!!!! "Ooooooooh, baaaaad move!"
Black holes are where God divided by zero

Well, I do like Gabriel Knight. But one of my favorite characters was Tancrede de Nerac (As-Sayf) from the Legend of the Prophet annd Assassin.

1. Tex Murphy (and the best game to play, Neole, is without a doubt Pandora Directive)

2. von Glower from GK2
3. Max the rabbit from Sam & Max
4. Ben from Full throttle
5. Kate Walker

I will probably remember ten more in an hour...

I see myself agreeing with alot of the participants in this thread when I say that I have Tex Murphy () and Gabriel Knight (Mysterious & always with some good lines to boot) have to be my favorite characters of all time.

Tex because he is the "Funniest character ever" in adventure gaming...

Gabriel simply because of the brilliant balance of the character as well as all the nice lines he comes up with in each title.  No doubt Tim Curry did a splendid job as GK in I & III.

Honorable mentions must go to Larry Laffer, George Stobbard & everyone's favorite villian from GK2, Van Glower.

I'd love to come up with some profound new choice, but it comes down to the four G's for me: Gabriel, Grace, Guybrush, and George.

If you liked him, you should also try the CD version of Larry 6!

You've really been missing out on a lot of the fun if you haven't played the talkie version of LSL6, Wimli. The talkie version should be easy to get on eBay. The talkie version also has hi-res graphics BTW.

Deleted UserI'll go along with Gabriel and the Baron (sexy eyes!).

Larry was a bit of an idiot but that was his role .... and those LSL games were very funny and a little suggestive.
I recall when I bought the LSL "Greatest Hits" (all games on CD) that the adolescent sales person "warned" me that the games were a "little rauchy".  Raunchy?  Here was this pimple-faced kid telling Grandma how to suck eggs.  I had played them all on "floppies", just wanted my own "collection".
I forget what he was playing at the time, no doubt something less "raunchy" like "
oom" or something.  :
