Can I have a list of cartoon adventure games? These are my favourite kinds and I want to make sure I havent missed any. Please include prerendered 3D cartoony ones too. Not stuff like the earlier Kings Quest, they arent cartoony but painted sort of arty. Here's ones I remember, I havent managed to find and play them all -

Runaway
Kings Quest 7
Discworlds
Rent-A-Hero
Liath
Toonquest
SpaceQuest 6
Fable
Monkey Islands
SamnMax
Day of the Tentacle
Full Throttle
The Dig
Indiana Jones
Grim Fandango
Koala Lumpur
Leisure Suit Larry Love for Sail
The Last Express (has a comic book look)
Legend of Kyrandia
Broken Swords
Freddy Pharkas
Neverhood
3 Skulls of the Toltec
Zork Grand Inquisitor
Stupid Invaders
Creature Crunch
Tony Tough
Black Mirror (?)

You mention Legend of Kyrandia - just wanted to clarify seeing you didn't put "the kyrandia games" that you have all three. The first two are more Monkey Island 1&2 in graphic style, part three is a bit more advanced, but cartoony as you like.

having recently played kyrandia 2 and 3 i'd say 3 isn't more advanced at all... actually they look almost the same!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

OMG...I'm sorry...I'm an old fogie, I guess, but the more ultra-real the better for me.

Although, the Broken Sword demo hooked me bigtime.  If that's a cartoon, well, I guess I'm on the fence on this issue...

MichalN : I meant Toonstruck when I said Toonquest! Havent been able to find that one and have been reading the reviews ever since its been released and drooling over the screenshots.

coreoverload : Nice list! I havent played most of them. Loved Inspector Gadget, and Touche looked good and I had marked it for a must playing. UFO was also one I could never find. Most of the rest Ive never heard of (except Ecoquest, Big red Adv, Drascula which I couldnt get to run on XP, Gene Machine, Willy Beamish). Which of the others are worth playing? Which are hi-res (640x320) or at least more cartoony and less arty (like ecoquest v/s Touche)?

Erwin : Yeah I rather liked FBI Hopkins. Got it in a discount bin. Pixel hunts but fun nevertheless esp the comic style graphics (and gore).

I had got Normality and had liked it graphics when it first came out and enjoyed it for a little while. It was surprisingly cartoonish for realtime 3D.

Down in the Dumps is another on my yet to find list..

dombrewer : I meant all Kyrandias actually, I had played all 3 when they came out and enjoyed them except for the ability to collect all the uneccessary flowers and fruits.. I rather loved the laughtrack on the third one.

Dark Aya : Part 3 did look graphically better I think - some areas were prerendered 3D if I remember right.

Agustin : Torin's Passage on my got to find list! Was it hi-res or 320x240? Havent played the others - got to check out Eternam, havent ever heard of it!

Fickfack : Woodruff and the Schnibble - heard a lot about it but couldnt get it anywhere when it first came out.. now I hear its got awfully tough puzzles?

CountryEastern : Which Broken Sword demo? If its the third one, then thats not exactly the style Im looking for, but the first 2 are the graphical style I adore.

Synnergist probably shouldn't be considered a cartoony game. It's very crude FMV and sprites with what looks like hand painted photos for backgrounds. Not cartoony like Chewy or  Willy Beamish or EcoQuest.

Here's some more but several are hard to find so be warned.

Loom
Vershollen Auf Lost Island.
Discworld 2 & 3.
Rumpilstilkin and the Labyrinth of the Lost
Return to Ringworld
I would say Woodruff and the Schnibble can be called cartoony
The Quivering (3D cartoony)
Armed and Delirious
Duckman
Alien Incident (kinda 3Dish but not terribly so)
Opera Fatal
Phillip Marlow Private Eye
Creature Crunch
Orion Burger

German languagegames:

Galador
Mutation of J.B.

Marlys : I had found Jack Orlando in an obscure shop and bought it seeing the screenshots I did like it, though I didnt finish it. I liked the graphics and cutscenes and the plot too. I still have it saved waiting to be continued.

scout : Some nice ones there and some others Ive never heard of.

- Ive played and loved all 3 Discworlds.
- Loom - looked too graphically outdated for me to enjoy.
- I played and liked Return to Ringworld years back.
- Duckman is another favourite lo-res cartoon adventure of mine. Some great animations on that one and plenty of adult humour.
- Philip Marlow - I did see some of that and it looked great. I have not played it myself though.
- Creature Crunch - great animations Ive heard.

The rest Ive not heard of. Which of those are graphically very good?

Yes, it's true. As far as I can remember. Because it is quite wacky. Same applies to Discworld which is still harder I think.

If your main interest is in the cartoon look and feel rather than difficulty of the game, there are some excellent kids adventure games to consider as well.  Since you were asking for a list of cartoon adventures, they would qualify as that.

Orion Burger is probably the most artiscally cartoony game in the list but also unfortunately the hardest one to find unless you know German and then you can find it easily. It's also very hard. I've started it a couple of times but always get stuck. Beautiful graphics though.

Chewy, which was mentioned above is also very visually rich.

They are both almost pure cartoony looking.

Another very nice looking game is Bazooka Sue, no English version but done by the same artist who did Chewy. Chewy, btw has really great gameplay. I'm playing it on and off between other games. If you liked 3 Skulls, you will like Chewy.

EDIT: Chewy is a tad more rough graphically than 3 Skulls. It's best played in DOS too.

Has anyone mentioned Clandestiny?

Also, Kingdom: Far Reaches and Kindom II: Shadoan have a cartoony Dragon's Lair look to them, although they're not really adventure games.

Two indy favourites of mine -

The Uncertainty Machine - by RatRacer
It matches any commercial game plot and puzzle wise. The graphics were rather good and hi-res. Excellent length too. Also, it uses the Broken Sword interface and plays much the same as the first 2 games so for Broken Sword fans its a must play.

Mourir en Mer - by Dorcan
One of my all time favourite games. Its a very short and very touching game, I havent ever been this moved by a game. The graphics are really good and so are the puzzles.

I havent played Fatman, the graphics looked too retro and put me off. I wish the creator had made it in 640*480 it certainly would have done a lot for the sales and commercial appeal of the game.

Mike_A : Can you suggest some games? I dont want puzzles are far too simple, or educational, but I guess there's no harm in trying them out.

scout : They sound good to me! i wonder how I never heard of them.

clyro : Space bar? Whats that? Hi-res or lo-res? Handdrawn or rendered?

Marlys : Thanks for the tip, I keep dying too.

sennebec : The Quivering is realtime 3D right? Somehow that puts me off..

lakerz : Never heard of them. What exactly are they? Any genre with Dragon's Lair look (the original not the 3D) is worth playing for me.
