On each "magic square" scroll there is symbolic picture of one element (Fire, Water, Air, Earth). You need to match them up with the symbols above the doors in the villa. I don't remember which element is represented by which symbol but it seemed fairly obvious to me which was which.

FYI I don't remember exactly but I don't think 56 is correct (I could be wrong, but check your math). The other numbers IIRC are.

I can't figure out which square matches what potion. Yes I know there are images under each square which you have to compare to the notes of the scroll but I have no clue what image corresponds to what description of each potion in the scroll.

Look around the House and you will find the symbols and a diagram with it indicating which is which.

I can't figure out which square matches what potion. Yes I know there are images under each square which you have to compare to the notes of the scroll but I have no clue what image corresponds to what description of each potion in the scroll.

Use the potion on Dumoulin at the Meeting Hall of the BSORC.  He will pass out and then you'll be able to enter.

Now for my question.
What do I do with the book in the crypt?  I found the ring and inserted it. Now all I can do is lower the four tabs or raise them.  I cant rotate the Dials.

Also how do I find out what these dials represent?  Or where do I find mention on what the combination is?

Ah, thanks! Of course there is another (even less violent) way to get into BSORC.

Look elsewhere in this thread...

Actually, I found it out by doing as simple as looking at the star chart in the book, and counting the rings belonging to each of the letters used on the wheels(A-D-N) Now, N was the one closest to the middle, at ring 1, A was on the 3rd ring and N on the 5th. Counting backwards 5-3-1

I can't open either 505 or 507 in the hotel. The lady next door is tired of speaking to me now, but gave me a pin though. I got the newspaper and te lockpick as well. But tryingn every combination with the lockpick would be really tedious. Did I miss something here?

I can't use the newspaper + pen on door 505 so I'm pretty stucked here.

(Haven't been able to draw the suspect yet either)

Please! A clue anyone?

You must open the hotel room with the lockpicks as far as I know. Yes it's a bit tedious. The best way to solve this is to fill every possible spot in the lock with a lockpick (4 total), after that try the knob and see if one or more don't rattle. If a lockpick rattles it means it's not correct, if a lockpick is solid when you try the knob don't move it, it's correct. When you have one or more lockpicks solid in place just switch around the others and adjust em untill you get them all solid. The door should open then.

I hope my explanation made sense. English is not my native language

No you don't. If you use the lockpicks to get into Hellouin's office, room 505 will later be open and you can get into 507 through there.

Suspect portrait:

I assume you've already looked at all your written descriptions and past conversation descriptions of hte suspect.  If you can't make up the picture from all that info (and chances are you have it 90% right like I did except the hair was slightly different for me).

Then go explore the cd-rom and go to textures/robosketch or somehting like that and look at the pictures.  One of them is the complete suspect sketch.

Yes it did help me and I somehow was lucky concerning the drawing. Remember (for the people who still wants to try for themself): The drawing is NOT blurred when you get it right.

Right now I'm struggling with the powder in the crypt. A pretty nice puzzle. I've figured out the square-thing but I can't find the right simmilarities concerning the drawings and the powder. Solved the planet-signs though.

What does the the mountain-picture correlate to?
What does the water/land picture correlate to?

I've tried many things now...

I need some help from someone who has got past the crypt.  Ms Blake has been kidnapped and I'm in the cafe looking at the painting with the candle and nothing happens.  I've read that something is supposed to trigger at this point.  Should the candle be lit?  If so, how?

???

Move the candle slowly (!)  over the painting. From time to time some "objects" will  appear.  Gus makes a note of any object or letter in his scetchbook. You have to put them together like  a jigsaw puzzle.

Ring for the book in the crypt lies on a shelf in the bookcase besides the constellation puzzle.

Two endings depends if you have presented enough evidence to get the P.I out of Jail. If you don't, the scene where Gus gives the head to Kauffner, Gus get shot scene is played. If you have presented enough evidence, the P.I will shoot Kauffner just when he's about to shoot Gus. The third ending remains the same, Gus brakes the head.

All includes Bebe selling the (fake?) head to the crazy woman.

I got the same problem...nothing happens at all! I've grabbed the candle, but the ligth is out. I've tried to move it slowly pver the painting. I've tried without it. I've tried the flashlight. Did you use the candle and was is lit?

It's not necessary to light the candle- it's already lit.
If you move the candle over the painting,  on several places  "something" will appaer (like a letter or a line) - but only for seconds (!) . Look at the sketchbook in the inventory - there are all the "objects" you managed to discover. Then you have to put them together - like in a jigsaw. When you have found all what's could be found
7 letters, 8 "other" objects) - and solved the jigsaw - you will get another location on the map.
That puzzle  needs some time.... well, it was a really a trial of patience

OK - now I've spent 20 minutes on moving the candle SLOWLY around in the picture (in "zoom-mode"
. The candle doesn't look like it's lit. Should it look like it's lit?

Nothing - I really mean nothing at all - happened during those tedious 20 minutes. Nothing showed up while moving the candle around, and nothing in the sketchbook either.

I begin to assume that this must be a bug somehow, or that something else has to be triggered.

After Balck was kidnapped I've talked to Bébé and Lebrun but nothing else. There seems to be nothing else to do! No new people, no new things to find.

Welcome to my world, that's exactly what happened to me.  I spent an hour going pixel by pixel across the painting with the candle.

This is a major game stopper.  Can't see any way around it.

kinda weird

okay, i got the candle and everything and i found all 7 leters and only seven objects

but the 8th object is totally not there...

like a game glitch or something..

to the people who can't get the candle thing working...i think you need to talk to benice about reproducing art for hulot and then go back to the painting, and grab a candle and stand in a specific place beneath it,

he lights the candle automatically when it is time to look at the pic.

..
but as you can see from my prob....   it might even have a glitch after that

anyone have any idea how to fix this??

Bernice has nothing more to say.  I've spoken to everyone but there's nothing new.

Hope they put out a patch soon.
