| Deleted User | Go to your local computer shop and look for a cheapie edition of "Grim Fandango" from Lucas Arts. I played it again a few weeks ago and it is STILL the best recent-era adventure game I have used.

Try a game called "The Longest Journey". It's a bit newer than Grim Fandango, so it'll probably be a bit easier to find. Both games are highly praised by a large part of the adventure-gaming community, and neither of them has the 1st person perspective that you seemed to dislike in Dark Fall.

Since you enjoyed Sanitarium, you might like Zork Nemesis.
If you have Win 98, you might try Nightlong. I've heard it has a problem at one point with Win ME and XP though.
Do you like games where you see the character you're playing on the screen (3rd person view) or does it matter?

Get the Gabriel Knight games if you can find them, and you can also get the first three Monkey Island games in a single boxed set.
Some other lucasarts stuff is also available on budget (as mentioned there is Grim Fandango but also a Day of the Tentacle/Sam 'n Max double pack...no sign of Fate of Atlantis though..boo!)
Zork Nemesis (and Zork @ Grand Inquisitor) are pretty good (the first is rather more serious than the usual Zork fare). First person games but nicely animated.
Oh and for a much more animated version of Myst there is RealMyst (with a snazzy new 3D engine!)...
...I wonder if they'll ever get round to making RealRiven?
