We're playing BS3 together!

Usualy alone, sometimes prodding friends to view 'this screenshot', but with more the atmosphere tends to 'go'. And I like playing deep into the night (but before the feared 'hmmm... to tired for this puzzle now...'A), and I havn't got a job so that's no real big problem. Then again I've got school, so maybe it is anyway And if there arn't any adventure games... I'll make them

I play only at work days....don't ask me why.....but I like to make other things at weekends. My game's work-kit > pen and papers I'm very persistent with riddles and problems....and can get stuck months in a single puzzle, without walkthru use. Patience is my trade-mark. I love hard and delayed games, and I like to commite mystakes and repeat the same action several times even find the corretc way. My pleasure to solve a puzzle is directly proporcional to the time spent in it. I have to admit - I'm a big masoquist.

| Deleted User | Games not designed for playing together - no multiplayer option that is - I play alone in the evening or at night.
whether work is suffering from a new game really depends on the work's importance and my actual mood.
although I don't like walkthroughs that much I sometimes use one in cases I am sure the solution must be rightous stupid, unfair or requires heavy pixelhunting on one screen out of 20.
usually I prepare some snack food along with a cool drink and drown in the game.

For adventure games and most console games my wife and I play together (I'm forbidden to play adventures alone!). We tend toward multiplayer games on the console, but even during single player games we've started switching off at checkpoints.

I suffer from "just one more level" syndrome quite frequently. As a result most games are done with within a couple of days. I like it that way. The larger games (mainly action/adventure, RRGs etc) can take weeks... that's cool too. I couldn't believe how long Deus Ex took me to finish. That's one big game.
I'm a bit of gaming junkie and it's not terribly good for my health, but what the hell. I'm loving it.

Status : Online | How do you play? Alone, with friend or family? I usually play alone, late at night. But sometimes I watch my friends play, and give them some hints when they ask.
Is there any chance you may get "flu" overnight and job must wait, because of new interesting game? Now THAT is a litle exagerated! I never let games took control of my life in that way. Playing is fun, but work must come first (I guess :).
Is game to you mainly entertainment or piece of art? Just like movies and books, games are both a form of entertainment and a piece of art.
Most people dont think that way, I know. But what are you gonna do? I still hear people saying "videogames are for children" every now and then... even on TV!
When one day there are no adventure games, what is alternative to you? Nothing could substitute adventure games for me. But I do play all sorts of games , the last ones I played were: strategy (Sim City 4, Star Wars G. Battlegrounds, The Sims); RPG (Diablo 2); action (Legend of Zelda; Grand Theft Auto 3); racing (Cruisin Exotica).....
So I will keep on playing even if there were no more adventures...
...but hopefully that WONT happen!

Status : Online | I always play alone. I don't like to play with headphones, because I usually play so long they start to hurt my ears. I'm often very tempted to skip work to game--especially if I stay up really late playing, but I rarely do.
One thing that I really like to do is to stop playing when I've got plenty to do. For example, if I've just entered a new location and haven't talked to anyone or clicked on anything, that's where I'd rather save and stop. I hate stopping when I'm stuck on a puzzle, because then when I take it up again, I'm already feeling frustrated.
Even if adventure games as a genre eventually die out, I don't think I'll ever have the time to play through all the ones that are already made.

Then I call for back-up.I've been known to quit a game and uninstall and throw in the can if I run across a part that has a timed thingy ...gawd I hate those. I hate to be rushed in AGs. Or if I die in a game, that's it, I'm done. I don't even bother to call for back-up. End of game.
See why I usually play alone? Little things in games get me, especially when you've played enough of them to know you don't want to go through that again and again and again.
Myst IV - Never finished it. Got frustrated with it.&&Myst V - Did not finish it either. Very disappointing.&&ATTWN - BORING!!! Never finished it. Kept falling asleep.&&Paradise - So far .... not so good&&Voyage - Not on my favorite list

I'm quick to resortm to a walkthrough, and might do so constantly if I'm more interested in the plot that in the puzzles, if the game isn't too good and I want to finish it, or if there's a death sequence coming. I hate them, they are so annoying. I might play at anytime, usually mid morning or so when I'm alone in the house, or if the game's really good I'll play at anytime, the sooner the better.

Status : Online | Well, I always play alone, but sometimes I have an audience watch me.
While they never participate in the actual gameplay, my wife and son sometimes watch me play if they like they take an interest in it. My son loves watching me play any Star Wars game and most 3rd person action games. He doesn't like FPS games though.
My wife loves watching me play sneakers like Thief and Splinter Cell as well as some survival horror titles like Silent Hill 2. She has also watched me play Law & Order, the Gabriel Knight games, and Phntasmagoria.
So, while I play the games, sometimes I have people watch me play even though they don't offer any help (though my son likes to commentate on the action and my wife likes to tease me about stupid mistakes).
I don't think I have actually had anyone "help" me play a game.
I would never miss work to play a game. If I didn't work, games wouldn't be as much fun.
Entertainment or Art? Art is entertainment. So that question is moot.

I`ve never skipped work to play though
I get really immersed in a games. it`s happened often that I`ve looked at the time and realised that I`ve been playing all night and it`s 20 minutes before I have to go to work this just happened with BS3, finished it in two sittings. took me 10 hours. wasn`t stuck once (even though the bottle puzzle stumped me for some time) I loved it!
I play all kinds of games, mostly RPG`s. anyways I don`t think adventures will ever go away

You play exactly the way and with the same principles that I play. It can be a form of masochism but IMHO it is the way that the authors intended that these games be played. A lot of work goes into the puzzles and plot-twists- it has never made any sense to me that walkthrus should be used as a way to avoid taking the trouble to solve them!
I now play much differently than I did a year ago. Now I shut myself in a dark room where the game is projected on a 6 foot expanse of wall using a laptop (running the game) that is attached to a multimedia projector. I lie on the bed and use a remote pointer device (originally designed for powerpoint) that acts as a mouse. A small light above is turned on and off when note-taking is required (which is frequent!).

The future ain't what it used to be!

Status : Online | Night time gaming has always been a habit of mine ever since the late '80s when I was just a kid :0. For some reason adventure or rpgs are just more fun at night. Usually I crank the sound up, turn off all the lights, grab a few snacks and stay for a lengthy gaming session. I'm what you would call a "hardcore" old school gamer i've done 24 hour sessions before and back when I played MMORPGS (for gods sakes don't even get sucked into those) I did 48-72 hour sessions without sleep. If this sounds horrifying to you guys well it is . During this time I was also went to college. Don't ask me how I managed to do all this without ruining my life suffice to say i've had some painful days at school the next morning. I also did this during high school..
In my opinion adventure games work when you can become fully immersed into the storyline. If I can only peck away a few hours each day I lose interest really quickly. If I can make it an epic test of my own stamina then it's all worth it. If a game is good i'll hammer away at it until I beat it.

I usually play adventure games alone in the dead of night, usually 2 or 3 hours at a time. Journey to the Center of the Earth was an exception. I had to play that over at my brother's house because the videos wouldn't work right on my computer.
I usually play action/adventures and RPG's along with my brother. When one of us gets tired of an action sequence, the other can have a try. Also, games with action in them don't seem to have the potential to draw me in the way adventures do. At least none that I have seen do. So nothing is lost by playing them along with someone.

No.
Is game to you mainly entertainment or piece of art?
Entertainment. Very few games would qualify as art. Some games have artistic visual and sound design, but that doesn't mean the whole game is art.

Replaying what I have. Books Movies

Never miss work for a game, that would make me nervous....But think about it at work and can't wait to get home & a chance to boot that puppy up! I feel I'm quite the norm.

I've never missed work or school because of a game, though I may have missed one or two lectures here at university
I don't tend to think of games of art, although I can think of some that might qualify. I play them for the entertainment value.
If there are no adventure games, I'll buy some other kind of game. If there are no other games I want, I'll reinstall an old game - not usually an adventure, because those don't tend to have much replay value, but something like The Sims that you can play for ever and ever.
