Status : Online | As I mentioned, I have trouble with Myst type games and did look for help at forums. Most of the puzzles, you will see what has to be done in your mind, the execution takes the time.
Sorry, not an expert on what the worlds are called so call them, desert, park, tree, water worlds, etc. There are actual clues all over.
The tree world started out and for me it was awful. The other worlds not really hard. I avoided the tree world until nothing else to do. You will see and maybe for some of you that world will not be hard but the first set of puzzles in that world was like playing Schizm for me, which I never finished.
So if I can do it, everybody here can do it, trust me. If you don't go to forums when you need help, then it will take longer and I did really need help with the tree thing.
The only other good suggestion I have is look around you carefully.
The big temptation to play online came at the very end for me, I wanted to go on after seeing what I saw. But.........
Understand you can buy the music which is very tempting, I loved it especially during the credits and the desert opening part and such.

Status : Online | Though I plan to play Uru sometime, I wont play it online unless I know someone else who does. But, in all respects anything that is associated with Myst or it's successors I would dfinately call:
EVIL INCARNATE!
It's not that I don't like the Myst games...well, yeah, it IS because I don't like the Myst games.

I have bought my copy of Uru but as it's not my birthday yet I've given it to hubby to wrap. This way I know I'll get a present I'll enjoy. He's laughing at the idea I can wait another week!
In the meantime, it's back to RHEM - which IS a Myst clone.
But I sure am looking forward to wandering around. That's what I used to do in Riven.

You are the ONLY OTHER PERSON IN ADELAIDE I've encountered who plays computer games. Good to meet you.
No I usually get mine from BerlinWall on King William St or in the Electronics Boutique in Marion Shopping Centre. I've heard the supermarket advertising but haven't bothered looking for them. Are they cheaper/ better / bigger?
What sort of games do you usually play and which are your favourites. Have you played Obsidian? I love puzzle games over any other. I'm currently wandering the staircases in RHEM.
Hey Caroline - nice to meet you too - the Net's a great place, isn't it! Software Supermarket isn't any cheaper that I've really noticed (anyway you've got URU already I see) - they're just open late every night, and you can find some pretty obscure titles there. Worth checking out - they're on Franklin St, close to West Tce.
I haven't played Obsidian (heard it's good - and unusual though) - I'm really not into Myst-style puzzle games, and prefer immersive 3D RPGs (like Gothic) or actual 'adventures' - BS1&2, Sanitarium were some of my favourites. I actually play a large variety of *types* of games, but rather few games overall - I'm very, very fussy.
In fact, I haven't played games as much since the time before Looking Glass Studios collapsed - they simply made the best games ever (eg Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Thief, Terra Nova), and I have never been so hooked and immersed as back then.
Have you checked out this site? www.the-underdogs.org Excellent resource for 'old' games - great succint reviews, and lots of downloads of 'abandonware' - you can find quite a few great old adventures here.
Weather's gotten a bit cold today (Sat), huh?
