Status : Online | I just finished Black Mirror and I enjoyed it despite having the ending spoiled by some loser in this forum. The voice acting really brought down the review of the game at PC gamespot to a disappointing 5.5, which I think most adventure gamers would disagree with.
The game is on the easy side, and frankly, I enjoy that from time to time.
On the otherhand, Darkfall is much more difficult and subtle as I remember. I found myself needing to take notes and relying on a walkthrough much more.
I would say that both games are good, but I would definitely recommend Black Mirror over Darkfall, if only out of pure sloth on my part.

Status : Online | Dark Fall definitely has more creepy ambiance to it as well as more creative puzzles and a better-honed story. However, it is devoid of people (as 1st person puzzle games tend to be) and the graphics aren't as good.
The Black Mirror's graphics are great, it has characters to interact with and the story starts out good, it just winds up with underdeveloped sub-plots and some loose ends. The puzzles are much more basic, too, with a few sliding tile puzzles, a maze, and a lot of find-the-key hunting.
In the darkness, we all look the same.

Even creepier than The Blackstone Chronicles? Now that was one creepy game!
I played the demo of Black Mirror and bought Dark Fall but for some reason wasn't grabbed by it at all. Maybe it is like Wimli said about having to take notes. I must be in the mood for easy games lately.
Black Mirror gets my vote.

Status : Online | Well, recently I had the choice between Black Mirror and Darkfall myself. I chose Black Mirror and now regret that decision.
Black Mirror could have been a very well done game but it had two major flaws that made me wish I bought Darkfall instead. I can't believe the JA+ review of it was over a C.
Go for Darkfall. I haven't played it, but it's gotta be better than Black Mirror.

Well, as you so properly pointed out, Wimli didn't say it. It was Hobbes, who has appropriated his cuddly tiger icon.
I stand corrected, but confused.

Dark Fall is the spookiest game I've played. Well crafted, non-linear, and required fairly copious notes and floorplans. Very engrossing!
The Black Mirror is a game I am still playing and I am quite enjoying it. Most of the puzzles are fairly easy and logical and I like the muted graphics. The translation is one of the best that I've encountered. It is a dark game but is (so far) not spooky.
Still adventuring after all these years!
Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...
... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...
