Well, they share some similarities, but I could pick 'em out of a lineup.

Actually, I nominate Ariane for the adventure genre's "Worst Hairstyle EVER" award.  Gack.   :-X

I'm with you.....Kate = April = Ariane = Legacy's protagonist

Deleted UserAt least they look realistic, in comparison to most other female game characters. Adventures have led the way in that department. Seems some other genres are catching up though. Both Max Payne 2 and Half-Life 2 appear to have heroines that actually could wear regular clothes.

Well, they may look very much alike (well, personally, I like that look
), but April and Kate have quite different personalities. April is rather naive and dreamy, while Kate is, well... just the typical cliché lawyer, at least in the beginning. Big difference here IMO.

I'm really looking forward to Legacy BTW, it looks great.

I agree with the hairstyle Singer.

Whats Legacy? Is that the full name?

Deleted UserSerously though, look at them and imagine they were real people. Would you say they all looked the same then? Of course not! I think the problem is that we don't see women like this in games very often and therefore think they are so similar.

When do we get a game starring a middle-aged woman? That would be quite interesting, wouldn't it?

I've not played Journey yet...

But you're asking me if April and Kate are the same? No. I mean, they don't even look similar. The only thing they have in common is that they're women. I mean, Kate looks more like Lara bloody Croft than she does April Ryan.

Now, that Gabriel Knight bloke, isn't he a dead ringer for George Stobbart?

Maybe the Agatha Chistie's famous protagonist (Mistress. Jane Marpel).....The most famous ancient female investigator of criminal literature.

How about a Laura Bow game, except 25 years later, with a Miss Marple-like Mrs. Bow-Dorian solving mysteries in a communist-scared cold war California. Possibly getting involved in the murder of a nuclear scientist while visiting CalTech. (just writing this gives me so many ideas, if you've read "Sex and Rockets", about the strange life of John Parsons, you'll know what I'm hinting at).

Edit: When reading a reply to my post, I realized that I'd written "Laura Bow" as "Lara Bow". How embarassing. Too much Tomb Raider influence? To my defense, the name WAS originally a play on the silent movie star "Clara Bow", and I seem to remember a reference in QFG3 with the weapon seller talking about "Lara bows".

A Miss Marple, perhaps?  Tho she was of "Older age" ( like her 60s) .I agree females (and males) in their 40's (middle age) COULD contribute a lot more.

Deleted UserI'll say it again - it's the short, neck-length hair caused by computer technical deficiencies in the hair-shoulder interaction department. Too complex.

I find all computer women all rather generic, actually.  :-/ Time for some new designs.

I like your idea, I like the LB games and the 50s are an interesting time for an AG. Too bad there's probably no one left at Sierra who has ever heard the name Laura Bow

If memory serves, there was a game devloped in Israel, featuring a "super granny" as the heroine. I think it was of the action / adventure type.

Depending on how you look at it, she's either a teenager or almost 90!

not "armed and delirious" a.k.a "granny", right? Dunno where it was developed. The Israeli adventures I know of all starred guys about 30 years old.

It would be nice to see a female character that is either older or has blonde hair or something.
