Deleted UserI left out a lot of games, mostly because I didn't think of them. In the case of AITD, I hadn't played them either.

One thing I noticed about Black Mirror...the voice acting was very well done, but very poorly used.  All of the long soliloquies were excellent.  But the short phrases were off.

I think what happened was that they just handed a list of phrases to the actors to read, but with no context.  For the long speeches, the actor could figure out the emotions.  But what if you were told to say, "OK, I will."  The actor may say it in an agreeable way, as to a friend, but the game situation may have called for it to be frightened or angry.  So it ends up sounding all wrong.

Personally, I did not enjoy the game.  If I try to analyse it, as I do in my reviews, the individual catagories - story, gameplay, graphics - all get high marks.  So why did the game leave me with such a feeling of unease?

Your character goes around and basicaly pillages every place he visits.  After solving each puzzle I found myself thinking, "How will I explain THIS to the owner?"  or "How am I ever supposed to look them in the eye again?"

This is totally out of character for me, so it gave me trouble trying to relate to my avatar.  My choices were to either play the game at arm's length and not really get into it or to feel guilty as heck afterwards.  Either way took all the fun out of it.

I finally decided not to write a review for Black Mirror as the current reviews pretty much say it all.  I didn't feel I had anything significant to contribute.  Which reviews have I written?  That's the puzzle to the left of this text.

I also enjoyed this game's dark atmosphere. I've played it quite some time ago and i think i'll play it again for sure in the near future (well there're other games i have to try first and even that's hard besides school and going out a lot with friends
). Back to BM.... I liked how everything about that mansion was so secretive and dark and especially totally behind time (i know the game wasn't taking place in 21st century but still...). And the place seemed cold, fireplaces made it look even more magical. And the sound of the fire made me walk by the fireplaces more often
.
All the murders were unique as well. This game's surely among the ones i've liked the most by now.

I really thought Black Mirror was great and it did keep you on the edge of your chair I jumped a couple times through it. I only wish they had a better ending or give you the options to end it other ways.   [smiley=rolleyes.gif] There is nothing like a creaky mansion to get you going, the more mystery the better.

I especially liked all the cut scenes... The one in which the gardener drowns and you basically look directly into his face and all of the sudden his eyes open...that was freaky
,not to mention the guy whose head gets cut off. Yeah, i agree with that the end wasn't perfect but i still liked it... As for the mansion...they did a great job
. Have you played NiBiRu gameplayer? I liked Black Mirror a lot more...

Great, i can't wait to hear what you'll have to say about it. I liked the game, but i liked The Black Mirror better, the story seemed cooler
. Not that NiBiRu has a bad story! The same company will release a new game this year (or next?) and i'll definitely play that too

Nejcha, I just started NiBiRu and so far it is okay Black Mirror had more going for it. But I will let you know when I finish it. One thing in NiBiRu the somethings that you do are not set up right to do, like the matches now don't you think you should be able to light the firecrackers ourselves. I just finished Scratches.  [smiley=smiley.gif]

Nejcha, Just finished NiBiRu and at first it was slow but, you get caught up with the mystery what is going on. I did like all the things you got to see and do and the traveling. I think both games where good and enjoyed playing them both. I think Black Mirror had more scary scenes in it. In the end I like both for what they had to offer. I just finished Scratches I was disappointed with some of it I thought it could use more mystery in it. I love the fact you could open almost anything to see what was in them.
You have to let me know about CSI game I was looking at it too.  [smiley=smiley.gif]

Ok so i guess i liked BM cos' it has more scary scenes
, i like when something freaks me out lol. But i undertand they can't make another game just like BM
. I'm also looking forward to their next game, it should be fun... As for CSI, haven't got my hands on that yet, i'm too busy with uni at the moment and it wouldn't be a good idea to install a game at the moment

I thought Black Dahlia had the worst ending ever, until I finished The Black Mirror last night (actually early this morning).  The surprise twist is not a surprise, I knew who the killer would be from the start. The killer's identity is revealed but not how he managed to commit some of the murders. There are too many unanswered questions. And the final scene is depressing.  At least it made a sequel unlikely.

I too thought that it was a sad ending but, they could bring in a new sequel if the character had been frame along. Then it would be fun to find out who?

And in the final scene we'd learn that the butler did it.

You could have another relative not known before and has been on the sidelines waiting for there chance of revenge. The butler would be too obivious since he is always around, it would be more of a mystery to find out why and who was doing this to frame him. Like Dr. Kimble never seem to catch up with the one arm man. Constantly following clues, where he may be and trying to stay one step from the law to prove he was innocent. :

I don't think the ending was that depressing...it was just "weird" lol
...could've been better. Can't compare it with Black Dahlia, because i haven't played that one. I agree with you Kewalaka that there're so many unanswered questions in the end...They'd left those to our imagination :

In honor of Black Mirror 2 being in development, I'd like to say, sadly, Black Mirror is the only game I have ever quit.  I couldn't for the life of me handle the voice acting.  Yech.

Boooooooo!

And now for the curve ball: I'm totally looking forward to Black Mirror 2.

Playing: Skyrim: Dragonborn/Dawnguard; Torchlight 2; To The Moon; Far Cry 3

Finished: HomeFront; Far Cry 3; Dishonored

Always Playing: Half Life 2

Looking Forward To: BioShock: Infinite

Reading: BioShock: Rapture; SW: Revan

Sadly, it was one of those games that people either loved or didn't. I'm with you and sit in the loved camp.

Loved this game! It's got a lot of character and it is precisely because it doesn't do things the way it's expected to that it is great.
