| Deleted User | Fair enough. Why should anyone want to flame you? You're totally entitled to your opinion.
Expect posts below this to go on about how much they enjoyed the cussing/gameplay/plot/script etc., like they can convert you or something. You've played it and obviously didn't like it.
But as I ask other to respect your opinion, respect that others don't agree too!

| Deleted User | I completely agree with you Mark- the dialogue is too long and not really very good. However, for me that problem was counterbalanced by other things I liked about the game. TLJ has many flaws, as does any game, and either you'll like it or you won't.

No shunning, flaming etc. intended.

I mean, I hate the Leisure Suit Larry games, but nobody eats me alive for it. Opinions don't have to be agreed with, but there's no point in shunning people that don't share the same ones.

You like what you like, simple as that.

And here's two lame reasons why:
"Yack, yack, yackety yack!" "And furthermore: blah, blah, BLAH blah, blah!"
Detested the cussin', too. So there.
Normally I'm a nice, reasonably thoughtful person, but I am very weary of all the talk about how great TLJ is. I would rather play The Scroll or Silverload over again if I had my druthers. Can I ask you why you made this post, Mark? Were you trying to stir up an argument? If so, you're going to be disappointed. No one is going to flame you for not liking TLJ, but you have to realise that a lot of people do like it and they have a perfect right to express their opinions. If you're tired of hearing people say how great it is, just don't read the threads about TLJ.

Nope no flaming here. I liked the game quite a bit, but I have seen many well placed comments about the dialogue length, the cussing and such. I can fully understand how TLJ would not appeal to everyone.
Hope the next game you get onto your hard drive is more enjoyeable for you

Status : Offline | Hey, you folks are being nice! I didn't quite expect this. :-[
I was in a fowl mood last night after picking up my van from getting repaired. The cost of repairs is going to put me in the poor house, under the front stoop. :'(
So please excuse my unmitigated, unprovoked and unsolicited attack on poor TLJ as my scapegoat. I guess reading so many (la-la) wonderful things about it irritated me, and I had one of those irrational moments.
JudyAnn: No, I haven't played Syberia yet. I need to update my graphics card by a few megabytes first (but my graphics card was well within the recommended specs for TLJ, which ran flawlessly).
I currently am playing Schizm, and liking it. I guess I'm just *not that fond* of character interaction in Adventure games, although I love the Gabriel Knights, Sanitarium, Lucas Arts games, Under a Killing Moon, Black Dahlia, etc. and many others heavy on character inaction, NPC or otherwise.
Seriously, thanks for all of your kind words. I was being an awful troll last night.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Nah, you're not a troll. Real trolls never admit to being trolls. And they never apologize -- not that you did anything that required an apology. You'll find a complete range of opinions expressed on any adventure game around here, or just about anything else for that matter. :

I have to warn you that if you didn't like TLJ, it's quite probable that you won't like Syberia either. While it doesn't have as much dialogue and character interaction (or any swearing), it is quite a similar type of game. Still, you should give it a try when you get the chance.
I take it you like Myst-style games? As you see, people on this forum don't get riled that easily, but there's nothing like a Myst discussion to get some heated exchanges going...

Besides, if your were a real troll, you would live under a bridge and then you wouldn't need a car. Hmmmmmmm, now there's thought

I don't know about not liking Syberia just because you didn't like TLJ. For one thing Syberia is a heck of a lot shorter and easier, the graphics are wonderful and I can't say I felt there was that much similarity between the two except for both having females as the main character. Oh, and there's no swearing in Syberia either - if that really bothers you.

All that dialouge wasn't needed to play the game. It did make the characters much deeper than a lot of other games. That's what all that talking did for me. Maybe that is why the game kind of grows on people. It's so character-driven. But you can skip most of the talking and still play the game.

You could spend an hour listening to April's landlord tell her life story, but you never come in contact with her again for the rest of the game.
