A bit of annoying pixel hunting as well, had to sweep the screen a lot. All in all I think the good points win over the bad ones.

It did give me a sense: okay it's finished, nice game and now what is next instead after this wait of wait a feeling that I had just lost something.
Graphics and characters were good and yes there was some pixel hunting but not much.
It did have a decent length ending cut scene.
Maybe it was all the hype and anticipation.

That's true, it did. And it's one of those games that rewards you for watching the credits.
I have played a number of games with really dinky, unsatisfying end scenes lately though. What up with that?

| Deleted User | The length was too short. Generally I liked it though. Some puzzles were great and some were not.
Again like most adventure games, I had trouble for object hunting. Am I careless or is it the game? :
I liked the humour. Again, it was toooooo short. Loved the graphics and I wish for a sequal.
edit: hey, I wrote exactly what Adro wrote.

On the other hand: the plot was decent, the cutscenes were top-notch and, unlike many others here, I actually enjoyed the puzzles (forgetting about the trigger stuff, that is)
And it's a short game. Now I'm certainly not the speediest player around, but it only took me a weekend of heavy playing to finish. And when you break down the time spent, I probably spent half the time playing the game and half the time searching for activated triggers and scrubbing the screen. By my standards, an unacceptable balance.

I'm guessing online or another country, because unless it was released this week, it's not in any stores in my area.
This thread is helpful - hearing everyone's opinions help me decide how soon I should rush out and buy it (once I find it, that is).

It came out a few weeks ago, but I haven't seen it at any local stores (Portland, Oregon). I pre-ordered it from Amazon. It actually ended up getting to me at least a week late because so many people had pre-ordered it that it sold out before all the orders were fulfilled!

The graphics were good, apart from two cutscenes near the end where they looked like blurry 3D (but they were still ok). I liked the it near the end where you saw all those bits from other pendulo games (and MI3 too) in the background.
The voice acting was ok... Gina's voice was aweful which made her character worse (I pretty much disliked her from the start). Brian's voice was ok, but occasionally he sounded like Kermit the frog, especially when excited about something. The two thugs could have been so much better...their voices were ok but their characters were missed out.
I liked the fact that even though alot of the characters were cliches, they all had a certain twist to them.
The story was a little weak in my taste, and you only pretty much reveal everything near the end (no hints along the way either...).
Ah, the pixel hunting. I got stuck right at the begining because of missing two spots (that after careful examination too). Let's just say that they could've done better with the pixel hunting (you know, make an object slightly larger, or colored differently than the background or even allow highlighting).
There were some puzzle solutions that were very 'cartoony', but usually you knew why you were doing something (especially since Brian had the habbit of shouting 'Yes' whenever you did something right.)
Did I say the game was too short? Another act or two and some more hints about the plot could've really made this game better. Oh, also I didn't like the fact that you couldn't directly overwrite your game saves (and I made it through this game with less than 30 saves...something which rarely happens even with overwriting).

Can't say whether or not a game is short or long. I do not have long periods of time available to play games, so I do it in parts. And since, I do not keep track of the time I play each day, when I finish it I don't know how long I have been playing. Plus, because I only play a bit each day, it takes some time to finish the game nonetheless, so I do not perceive the game as 'short'.

Sorry, assuming you are in the States. Yes, I live in Minnesota. The EB in my area doesn't carry many adventure games. But the Best Buy that's close to it does.
susan... amazon has got it ! Plan B is to get it online. Usually it's cheaper for me to just pay sales tax than to pay for shipping, which is why I opt for buying something in the store, but I see Amazon has free Super Saver Shipping for this product. And when I buy it in the store, I can play it that same day!

Status : Online | Hmm.  id I like Runaway. It's hard to say. This game was hyped up like crazy due to the delays and all, so I was definitely expecting more. The story was kind of cool, even though it had massive plotholes and was a tad uneven at times. The puzzles were a PAIN and the game was let down by massive pixel hunts and a lack of a real climax.
And Brian and Gina... oy. I couldn't stand either of them. Brian and Gina were two completely uninteresting, unappealing and unlikeable people. I wanted to slap them both.
I liked the NPCs though. Is it sad when you find the NPCs more interesting than the main characters? I want to see a spin-off game starring those three drag queens.

Hah! He did sound dead-on Kermit the frog sometimes. That was pretty funny.
Also, did you notice how Oscar and Saturn said "What?" really weird? They said it as if you had just told them something really insane, when all you were doing was trying to start a conversation with them.

Status : Online | Oh- one other major annoyance- the game has a "maximum install" option that requires you to insert all three CDs to install the game, BUT YOU STILL NEED ALL THREE DISCS TO PLAY THE GAME!
What's more, you always have to insert disc 1 to start Runaway, and then you have to insert the CD you were on when you last saved!
Question 1: Why offer a maximum install option when you still need all 3 CDs to play?
Question 2: If you were going to require every CD to complete the game anyway, why not let each disc qualify as a "start disc"?
Please game developers, always allow full installs of your games. It's okay if you requre disc 1 as a start disc for copy protection reasons, but don't make players insert multiple CDs just to load a saved game.
Oh... and if you absolutely must require massive disc swapping to play your game, PUT THE DISCS IN FREAKING JEWEL CASES! The envelopes are barely acceptable as it is, but when you then require that people keep swapping CDs you put your customers at risk of papercuts and smudged discs.

But so far I am really having a great time playing it. The difficult side in the game dont bother me that much since I like a bit of a "nut cracker" for a game. I prefer this kind with a lot of hard puzzles compared to Syberia (for ex.) which was a "walk in the park". But then again I am not a "newbie" when it comes to adv gaming.

I want to know how that makes it past the beta testers. Titanic: Adventure Out of Time was/is like that. The entire game takes place on CD 2 ... but guess what CD you have to put in to get the game going? : Myst 3 is like that as well. Argh! But I'm loving the fact that I have a DVD & CD-R drive that double as normal CD drives. No disk swapping for me!
