I still have a lot of games I haven't played yet, such as Sanitarium. Right now, I'd list these as my Top 5:

1. Grim Fandango
2. Gast
3. Silent Hill 2
4. Curse of Monkey Island
5. Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths

Ok. Well since the advent of the walkthrough my game experiences have been pretty much tarnished! However, I have resolved to physically removing my cable modem from the room when playing an adventure game and putting it an the bottom of a very deep well.

Anyway back on topic:

1. Monkey Island 2
2. Syberia
3. Syberia 2
4. GK 2: Beast Within (£10 at a car boot sale
)
5. The Longest Journey

Most of them modern unfortunatly! Graphics boy ere!

That's a very, very good idea. I should do something like that to help me avoid the temptation of getting help too soon with a game. Start an adventure, unplug the cable modem, and toss it out the door.

Which will soon be regretted when you've been stuck in the same location forever & NEED a hint.

I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.

Real adventure gamers never need hints. Tsk, tsk, tsk.  :

Its not the winning the losing or the taking part that counts. Its the way you cheat.

Hmm.. for some reason I didn't post in this thread back in Nov. 2002 - don't remember seeing this one, though I'm pretty sure there was a thread about our top 10 games!

Anyway mine are (I think!)

1. Gabriel Knight 2
2. Gabriel Knight 3
3. Gabriel Knight 1
4, Tex Murphy - Pandora Directive
5. Well I guess a toss-up between several - i.e. Grim Fandango, Spycraft, TLJ, Discworld Noir.  In other words I don't really know.

I think the very first thread I posted in was a thread on top twenties of favourite adventure games. Must have been a bit more than a year ago. I'm sure Romnut can bring that one up again on her way through all these past threads.

Anyway, my top 5 would be something like this:

1. Gabriel Knight 3
2. Gabriel Knight 2
3.  Leisure Suit Larry 3
4. King's Quest 6
5. The Longest Journey

Top 5 games would be

1. Day of the Tentacle
2. Monkey Island II
3. Tex Murphy : Pandora Directive
4. Grim Fandango
5. The Guild of Thieves -Magnetic Scrolls

Although there are alot of good text games that come close. Almost anything from Level 9,Magnetic Scrolls or Infocom could have made the list.

Call me crazy, but I rather enjoy Infocom's text adventures...  And I wasn't even born when most of them were published!

A Mind Forever Voyaging
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Spellcasting Series
The Monkey Island Series
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
