I saw a lot of people posting their top 5 action adventure games, so... 1- Prince of Persia 2 2- Resident Evil 2 3- Alone in the Dark 2 4- Flashback - The Quest for Identity 5- Out of this World (Another World)

- Gabriel Knight 1 - Gabriel Knight 2 - Gabriel Knight 3 (was that at all predictable?) - The Longest Journey - Monkey Island 1
(and, just to show how the rest of things set up, the top 6-10, still in no particular order...)
- Loom - Broken Sword - Grim Fandango - Space Quest 1 - Sanitarium

Status : Online | I took the trouble to count the adventure titel mentioned in the top5/10 lists. So here is the top 10 list of the top lists:
10. place with each 3 votes (in alphabetical order)
Amber - Journeys Beyond Day of the Tentacle Morpheus Sam & Max Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Serrated Scalpel Zork: Grand Inquisitor
9. place with 4 votes (i.a.o.)
King's Quest 5 Zork Nemesis
8. place with 5 votes (i.a.o.)
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
7. place with 6 votes (i.a.o.)
Broken Sword: The Shadow Of The Templars Monkey Island 1
6. place with 7 votes (i.a.o.)
Gabriel Knight Riven
5. place with 9 votes (i.a.o.)
Curse of Monkey Island Sanitarium
4. place with 10 votes
Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the damned
3. place with 12 votes
The Longest Journey
2. place with 13 votes
Grim Fandango
And the winner (14 votes) is:
Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within
I for myself have no top 10 list, but the best adventures I know are: Zork Nemesis (reason why I became an adventure gamer), Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time (loved the atmosphere, a shame that Presto Studios closed their doors), GabrielKnight 1 (old DOS stile graphic, but phenomenal and thrilling story), GabrielKnight 2 (not really surprising, eh?), Byzantine (thought I was in Istanbul), Corse of Monkey Island (associate it with Nachos, cos I ate a lot of Nachos while playing this game), The Longest Journey (but such a sadly story, I mean, this girl had no youth, has to guard the balance in a lonely tower for the rest of her life), oh, and not to forger Grim Fandango, Zork: Grand Inquisitor ...

I don't know if I can confine myself to five.....
Not necessarily in order:
1. Grim Fandango 2. Discworld Noir 3. Riven 4. Syberia 5ish. TLJ, Schizm, GK2, Dark Fall, A Quiet Weekend in Capri, The Last Express
Disclaimer: This is only valid for the time of posting. My favorites are not static.
Still adventuring after all these years!
Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...
... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...

Try November 2002, BJ. Anyway, considering that I've only been a member since 2003 and hence never saw this thread before, I'll follow Romnut's lead. Rather than try to decide which game is more "worthy" of a high ranking, my list is purely based on the amount of fun I had playing:
1. Grim Fandango - Wonderful script and story, great characters and performances, very smart and funny. Truly one of the best games ever. 2. The Curse of Monkey Island - Excellent cartoon-like graphics, great music, performances, and humor. 3. Escape From Monkey Island - Longer than Curse, but not quite as fascinating. Still great fun though. Gameplay is very similar to Grim Fandango. 4. The Longest Journey - Lives up to its name- it's the longest game we've played so far. Very immersive and complex. Great story, memorable characters. 5. Gabriel Knight: Blood Of The Sacred, Blood Of The Damned - The graphics are not always as lush as in modern 3D games, but in some places they're very pretty- and there are plenty of cool places to explore. This is not an action adventure though- Gabriel and Grace get to do plenty of good old snoopin' and solvin'. Good (if controversial) story, music, characters, and atmosphere- and some of the best Easter eggs I have ever seen in my life! Also, Tim Curry returns as the voice of Gabriel.

1. Gabriel Knight 1 2. Gabriel Knight 2 3. Obsidian 4. Myst 5. Monkey Island 1
With Sanitarium, Grim Fandango, and Gabriel Knight 3 alternating with some of those, depending on mood.

- The Colonel's Bequest - The Dagger of Amon Ra - The Longest Journey - Grim Fandango - Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned
I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.

Status : Online | Crapstorrm,`Splagina` is just another version of Grim fandango 3.I am surprised you rated it as the puzzles were so poor. The undersea views were pretty but did not add to the story. I suggest you try Adventures with Kate walker in a Pyramid or Kate walker drives a tractor..The ambiance is good if you have a 1902 windows set-up.
