Very creepy (good creepy!) environment with the music and design... Reminded me a bit about GK3, which is no surprise considering what the game is about, but I think this will be it's own game in every aspect. Any bad things? Well, the lipsync was non-existant... And did I say short?

And the dialogue system was a little bit weird. I would prefer if I could see all the dialogue options shown in one screen.
The graphics looked really amazing and the story seems very interesting. I just played it for 2 minutes or sth. I prefer to play the whole games and not demos because I want to experience the whole story in one unhindered flow.
Seems like a good game with some flaws.

I just got back from the gym because it was raining and I couldn't swim. Hey that ryhmes. But it went well...I amazingly keep all of my strength after three weeks of absence...

I may even play this before there's a walkthrough available, something I never do. It might take me awhile to get it though, as it won't be released in the US until February.
Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, it's so hard!

Seriously, really good adventure games haven't come along that often (but that seems to be changing of late) let alone a game with a noirish element.
One minor aesthetic point: I like games with supernatural elements as much as any other adventure gamer, but ever since the 7th Guest, graphical adventure games seem to all be chock full of supernatural elements, some with good reason, others just to unecessarily convolute the story. I think the story could be told as well set as a conventional murder mystery, but this is just a minor quibble, and I think I'll add this game to the increasing list of newer, well regarded adventures to keep an eye on.

Seems somewhat blurry to me, with compression artefacts very visible. This, in my opinion, is more than one step back from the outstanding Syberia graphics.

In the demo, I didn't like the dialogue system (I'd prefer to see all the dialogue options at once and not have to click throught tags to see each one of them) and the 1st person perspective. I think that this technique of you just walking from box to box with no intermediate scene is very old, antiquated and non-realistic. If it had to be 1st person I'd prefer a morrowind style where walking seems more smooth. Also lip-synching is non-existing which destroyes the whole cinematic feeling that the developers are trying to give to the game.
On the other hand the graphics were quite ok in my opinion and the story looks like it can turn to something really good so I think this game is not going to be a classic but it is going to be a good game nevertheless.

It is not realistic. And thanks goodness for that because I don't think I could survive another game with as much sickeningly realistic walking around as Syberia. In Post Mortem, you can get from A to B very quickly.
Of course Post Mortem compensates for this by not letting you skip the dialogs. Oh well.

Status : Online | Skip the dialogs??? Why do you play adventure games? I know the choice is good if you can have the possibility to ask the same question twice, but from what I saw in PM you can't do that.
I'm not certain about that though cause I only played till you were done with this woman that comes and talks to you in the beginning. I don't like playing demos that much, I prefer to start and finish the whole game in one time.
But talking about Syberia walking. Maybe it would be an asset if you could escape from a screen with the press of a button (CMI) style, but nevertheless I prefer Syberia walking that looks so much more realistic, than being presented with photos and try to convince myself that it is a real world.
I think 1st person games should forget this photo concept and move on to GK3-style camera gliding or Morrowind-natural walking style. I will always prefer 3rd person to 1st person but even so I think 1st person games could imrove a lot by such a shift.
And although I love my mouse and pnc adventures are my favourites I think that first person games could be played better with the keyboard.

My biggest problem with the game was the dialogue, even if there was only one choice you still had to click it. Since it is a long time til Syberia 2 with not many choices of good adventure games that I like, I will probably go ahead and buy it. I heard that it will be released in Canada on the 12th. I hope I can buy it online somewhere.

Ahh, I agree with that. I too prefer the 3rd person view. But if it means waiting forever for the character to walk from one end of the screen to the other, well... Post Mortem suddenly looks a lot more attractive.

Well, that was one of the shortest demos I have ever played, not that I have played that many demos.
Only real complaint other than what others have said is they seem to bob to and fro when you are talking to them. I know they want to make them lifelike but it annoyed me. However, not to the point that I won't play the game.
